I understand that, but to call a woman whom you have never met a name like that is rude and terrifically mean. I love my mother and even though our relationship was sometimes not the best, she is still my mother.
All women can take care of themselves, child. The differences lies in the laws that men have laid down, restricting their rights. As a single woman, I could own, buy, and sell property, but not until I reached the age of five-and-twenty. I can not be a member of Parliament, nor can I vote for those who would join Parliament.
I am engaged, and while I love Colin with every fibre of my being, once he and I marry, he will, by law, own all property I bring with me into my marriage, and any monies I earn after our marriage will belong to him, as well.
More women than I can count are shunned by all levels of society because of choices that were thrust upon them by men, and having the wrong man make those choices for her was and is tragic.
I'm sorry for my outburst, though. For all her faults, she is my mother and the only one I will ever know.
