Who: Friends & family of Connor Reilly. (Angel officially invited his team, including affiliates like Spike & Faith, plus Dorian Gray and Sam Winchester -- but of course Connor had permission to invite anyone else he wanted. If you're not sure whether he would've invited your character, check with Dee! I mean, you can ask me, but... I probably won't know.)
When: Tonight! Starting around 7 PM.
Where: Angel & Connor's apartment (607).
What: Connor's turning 21! We think. And Angel is a very proud papa.
Rating: Low?
(Cut-tag lyrics are from Breeze Off The River, which is from the musical The Full Monty and is amazing and everyone should listen to it. /musical pimping)
This is a pretty low-key party, so there's not much in the way of decorations. Also because, you know, it's Angel. Not his area of expertise. He did put up some balloons (uh, but without the flower bouquets at the bottom. Idk, it's hard to find non-ugly black & white balloon arrangements) with Dorian's help, because otherwise it would've been, like... two balloons randomly floating through the room. In terms of food, Angel took Dorian's suggestion and got KFC. An insane amount of it, because he doesn't know how much food normal human stomachs hold. When he's human, he basically eats nonstop, so. There's also a veggie tray and a fruit tray for the rabbits in the room (here's looking at you, Sam Winchester). (Some animal blood for Angel & Spike, too.) Of course, it wouldn't be a 21st birthday without alcohol: beer and specialty shots if you want something stronger. You can thank Angel's bartender coworker for passing along the recipes and some of the liquor. Then for dessert, Angel's masterpiece: He baked & frosted this himself (it's just chocolate with vanilla buttercream & chocolate frosting; he figured he shouldn't try anything too fancy for the first cake he's ever made). And it took HOURS. He's very proud of it. I mean, look at those two awesome candles. You can't tell him that's not perfection. If you try, he will refuse to hear it. Anyway, this post is mostly for Dee's benefit, but if you'd like to comment with what your character did, feel free! Angel kept his promise not to embarrass Connor with any singing/dancing/other silly dad stuff, but he was definitely in a giddy mood. It's the first birthday party he's ever had for Connor, okay? He didn't have the chance to get this out of his system when Connor was a kid like most parents. If you want to leave presents for Connor here -- whether your character attended the party or not -- go for it. (Or you can do it in your own post, that's cool too!) They certainly aren't required, but Angel tried to pimp his son's birthday out to everyone he could because Connor deserves all the gifts in the world. And Angel can't afford to spoil the crap out of his kid on his own. He did get Connor a few things, though: a bottle of Bushmills 10 year Irish whiskey (now that he's legal, it's time to learn how to drink the good stuff), a pair of tickets for Angel & Connor to a New York Rangers hockey game on December 2nd, and also some cheap-ish beginners hockey gear, because Angel has decided he's going to teach Connor to play. Better late than never, right? Included with the gear is an adult-sized version of the shirt he got Connor as a baby. Because Angel is not-so-secretly a giant sap. Oh, and a package of new socks. Because Angel is also pragmatic and Connor needed some. |
