This time it was Chloe who didn't react. All she could do was stare at his back and try to associate everything she thought was going on with what he said. When she felt her eyes tearing up, she turned away from him and rubbed her hands over her face. Apparently he thought she had been trying to prove to him she wasn't anything like the Chloe he knew but she hadn't been doing that at all. At least, not consciously. Although she had been expecting him to act and react like her Oliver.
She took a moment longer to pull herself together and once she was 90% sure she wasn't going to freak out on him, she turned to look at his back again. "I guess I just keep expecting you to be like him and I don't really know you either. I know that's not fair..." she stopped talking when she felt like her voice might crack. Oliver was usually the voice of the reason when she was like this so she was trying her best to focus on how he would react and do that instead of storming out and not talking to this Oliver for three days like she wanted to.
