Who: Matt and Lilah
When: Friday evening
Where: Starts in the lobby, goes into town.
What: Matt takes Lilah to his usual haunts that are actually in this version of the city. Is it a date? He isn't sure he wants to call it that considering he thinks his dates are all essentially cursed to be doomed.
Rating: TBD, likely low.

Of everything he's said to the woman he hopes she doesn't get upset about the one thing he never said. Granted, he assumed that most people were aware of him and his being blind. He was, as far as he knew, the only blind man in the whole building and the only redhead one at that. Matt essentially stuck out like a sore thumb, so if she didn't know that he was... he only hoped it wouldn't be that much of a problem.

But smugly he could only assume it wouldn't be given how many women here had already shamelessly flirted with him. Well, not any of them actual residents, but still!

Matt was waiting for Lilah as he said he would be. He was wearing a crisp, light blue shirt, a dark tie, and a pair of well fitting khakis. He looked as exactly his sort of job would dictate he look, minus the jacket he would normally where in that office. Matt held his cane in two hands, red tinted sunglasses pushed up the bridge of his nose and he waited, occasionally taking a deeper breath just to see if he could smell anyone with a particularly delicious perfume coming near him.

In the two days since she had spoken to Matt Murdock on the network, Lilah had done a small amount of research online and had learned enough to pique her interest. While he seemed rather more on the side of "good and fair" than she, somehow she didn't think they would clash, per se. And even if they did, well, that would make the evening interesting, at least. The initial thousand dollar stipend she'd been given on her arrival had helped with her expensive tastes, and she had spent a nice size of it replenishing her wardrobe - including jewelry, of course (diamonds were most certainly Lilah's best friend), and at the moment she was in her apartment donning one of the classier dresses she'd picked up. She had debated between a dress or pants, considering they were going to be out on the town, and had finally settled on the black one because you never could go wrong with that, really. After dabbing a tiny bit of perfume behind her ears, she brushed a hand through her hair, straightened the scarf that covered the scar on her throat, then slipped her feet into a pair of pumps she'd picked up - sadly not the Jimmy Choos she'd wanted, but they would do.

Finally, Lilah headed down to the lobby. In the small handbag she carried she had her wallet, a small amount of cash, and a cross (because one never could be too careful, she'd learned). Hazel eyes scanned the area for a moment, before finally landing on the tall redheaded man. Smiling slightly because he was, in fact, quite attractive - and she was determined to not think about Wes at all tonight - the lawyer crossed to him.

"Given you're the only redheaded man in sight, I'm going to take a guess that you're Matt," she said lightly on reaching him. "Or should I be looking for a different tall, ruggedly handsome man?"

Her voice was like velvet. Matt wanted to wrap himself up in it, wanted dip his head low and take a deep breath until he could taste her scent as much as he could smell it. Of course all of that was rather creepy to do or say but sometimes he couldn't help how his senses reacted to things.

At least nothing about her instantly made him want to throw up. (He still felt sort of bad that Squirrel Girl had a musk he couldn't quite handle, it wasn't her fault.) His smile stretched wider and her seemed to be looking at her, but mostly just over her shoulder as he spoke, sunglasses hiding how blank his stare would have been otherwise.

"I don't think you'll find one that beats me," he said smugly. "And I take it you're Lilah?"

He held a hand out for her. "Your voice sounds exactly like I thought it might."

If she was unnerved by the not-quite-there look, Lilah didn't show it even to those around them who could see. She broke into a wider smile at his words. "I am indeed," Lilah answered simply. When he offered his hand, she met it and shook with a warm, firm grip, well used to the sort thanks to having to be the "strong female" back at Wolfram and Hart.

"Thank you, though I can't say I understand how it might," she said, head tilted as she studied him curiously. "All the same, I appreciate the compliment." Letting his hand go after a moment, she turned slightly towards the exit. "Shall we start this tour of yours? I'll confess that I'm interested to see where you plan on taking me around town."

She didn't mention a thing about his lack of sight. Granted, wearing sunglasses and holding a cane didn't automatically alert people. Some people just didn't get it... but she was smart, so he assumed she did and wasn't going to bother asking about it. Not yet anyway.

"I've gotten used to certain personalities having similar ways of speaking. Their tone, inflections... I thought you might have a lower pitch, smooth, like velvet, powerful. I was right."

Actually he made that up, but it sounded pretty charming and he liked being charming. Matt used his cane to tap at the ground lightly as he began to walk toward the exit. "We're going to Hell, first, and then we'll see. C'mon, I called us a cab."

Lilah had caught on to that feature pretty quickly between the voice responses and the online check, and she wasn't surprised to see the glasses or the cane. Matt wasn't the first blind person she'd been around, and she understood that most who'd been blind all or most of their lives tended to already know how to get along just fine, and didn't generally appreciate assistance, even if it were well-meaning. If anything, she was almost glad that he couldn't see certain details - like the scarf she wore to hide her scar, despite the warm temperatures.

She smiled again at the words, arching a brow slightly. "Interesting. Is that something you say to all your dates?" She asked it a little teasingly, though she did appreciate the intention behind it. Generally, Lilah was more cynical and sarcastic, but not often with those she just met. Plus, she was trying, in a way, to keep from falling back into her more bitter frame of mind. The least she could do was try to enjoy New York while she was there.

That was why his next statement caught her by surprise slightly, and it took Lilah a second longer than usual to move to walk beside him as she reminded herself about the colorful name for the neighborhood he was from. "I'm looking forward to it," Lilah said, sending him a small smile. Her heels put her right at his height, and as she studied Matt's profile while they headed for the exit, she found herself already glad she'd agreed to the date.
