FILTERED TO PETER PARKER 616:

Hey you. Oh king of the spiders. Dad of the spiders? Spider-King? You get the point.

So this is probably coming from out of the blue, and I'm sorry if I'm overstepping my boundaries, but I know what it's like to have someone you considered an enemy take over your body and then, you know, try to kill you. Several times over. And no one even realizing it wasn't you the whole time. My boyfriend slept with her-me and I'm probably the last person you wanna talk to about any of this, and I totally understand.

But I just wanted you to know that you're not alone - not in the body swapping with an enemy or dying department, at least - and that if you ever wanna talk or not talk with someone who knows what it's like, you know where to find me.

OH, and PS. Knock Ben out so he gets some sleep, ok?
FILTERED TO BEN REILLY:
Hope you don't think I overstep my boundaries or anything, and I'm sure he's not really in the mood to talk, but I filtered Peter about what happened, what he's going through. Had it happen to me once, messed me up for - well, I'm still not sure I'm completely over it.

It's worth a shot. Just don't get offended if he doesn't take the offer, y'know? The going's understandably a bit shaky right now, but reminders that he's not alone are good. I think. So I'm at least going to say thanks.

Right, you mentioned that before. But I was a jerk and didn't ask about it. Right? Do you want to talk about it?

If nothing else, I know it meant something whenever people tried to reach out. I don't know. Guys might be different.

Nope, not a big deal anymore. Was over... 4 years ago? Technically over a decade for everyone else, but not quite so much for me.

It does. And it's usually appreciated, even if it might take a bit depending on the moodiness and level of 'woe is me'.

Except that you admitted you're not sure if you're completely over it. Or was that just to make me feel better?

Nah, I understand. I sat on my own back from the dead pain forever, and the only person I let in on it was a neutered vampire I'd later use. God, can I sound any more like the worst person in the entire world?

Not really sure what I'm supposed to say about it. "Oh hey, my Slayer enemy changed bodies with me, slept with my then boyfriend, and tried to get them to kill me." Is there a card for that?

I think you have a very, very, very long way to go before you're even in the orbit of 'worst person in the entire world' territory. Keeping that inside is understandable. It's not like you can find many people who know what that's like and well the vampires from your universe would, right? Plus if it falls into that whole 'I don't want to burden my friends', I get that.

Ouch. Just ouch. I think you need three different cards for that. And then the 'sorry we're terrible friends because we didn't notice anything, can you ever forgive us'cards.

See, thing is... This isn't about me. It's about Pete, and I know that I have to tap into those feelings to offer him any kind of advice or help or comfort or anything. But it just feels selfish and wrong to whine to his BROTHER about my own crap, you know?

It's not their fault. I guess. She looked just like me. She had my body. But, like I would EVER wear this outfit. Faith's worn THAT EXACT OUTFIT.

You're saying to the guy who mistook your shirt for a hanky a few nights ago. I know. Considering sometimes that not talking thing we do falls under the category of 'they have bigger problems than I do and I shouldn't worry them'. Which funny when we're all doing it at the same time. I don't mind, Buffy, because I also know that sometimes you need some support when you're tapping into that sort of thing to support someone else.

Yeah, but you were in the midst of dealing with that, Ben. That was understandable. It's been years, and Faith and I still don't get along. We never have, but at least it was jealousy before she turned traitor and killed people.

Yes, and they were mine too, but with a black shirt? And that make-up? No. You should seen the things she was saying to people.

Didn't stop me from feeling bad considering there were more important things going on that deserved more attention. And just because it was years ago doesn't make that situation matter any less to you. Which I have a feeling is going to get used against me eventually. Just forget I typed that.

You could always wear them without the shirt or make-up...

I left them in Sunnydale, and Sunnydale went boom. But you know, it's a possibility. Maybe for a birthday.

Yeah, yeah, nobody's personal angst is less important than someone else's. Even if, yeah, focus on Pete without focusing too much on Pete because oh boy that spotlight just makes the nerves go crazy.

Anyways, I'm glad your switcheroo got fixed although wishing it'd never happened in the first place because, yeah, that sucks. Or I'm figuring as I don't have that specific bingo square marked off.

Mine's in October.

Come on. You know if you focused so much on Pete that you got yourself hurt, he'd just feel guilty about it, which would make YOU feel guilty for making him feel guilty, and it's a huge, slippery slope to the bottom of that well.

You can thank Giles for getting it fixed. And honestly? I'm glad you don't have that one checked off. It's really not fun and messes with your head.

All of October, or am I gonna get a date?

You forgot the part where we both then feel guilty about the bad guy getting away because we were worrying too much over each other and then getting aggravated at each other for the other one insisting on taking the blame.

Yeah, I think I'll be fine over here with the 'who's the clone' shuffle, your run of the mill mind control, and unwanted symbiote bonding, thank you very much. And yeah, does plenty to your head on the other-side of it, so... yeah.

If I don't give a date, will that mean you show up in interesting outfits each night until you've guessed the right one?

See, that's the kind of first hand knowledge I don't have. You're going to come in handy.

Oh my GOD. Symbiote bonding? Like what was its name? Something snake-like. Not Voldemort though.

Not really a birthday surprise that way.

I'm going to stick with that information then. And not add in the part where that last part could actually be a d4 roll for 'both trying to take the blame', 'both blaming the other', 'both consoling the other by saying the blame isn't that bad', and 'just being 100% done of the day and ditching each other'.

Ugh VENOM. And hey there random Spider-man knowledge, but yeah, you're thinking of Venom. Who was a pain in the ass, but not my bonding buddy. I was even luckier and got stuff with Carnage. The name really does say it all.

What do you mean? It'll be a surprise which time it'll actually be my birthday. Hint: It'll be the day I'm dressed for the occasion in just a suit. And not the red and blue one.

Your guilt sounds an awful lot like ours. Especially nearing the end of the Glory days.

When you're friends with Xander Harris, you pick up these little things. Its name was Carnage? Gee, I wonder what HE did. How'd you get that off you?

You have a roommate. Are you going to just answer the door like that?

And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Yeah, they're not really original there. Although the name's very, very fitting... Murder, mayhem, streets running with blood. All that fun stuff. And.. um... microwaves. Yup.

A roommate who works. And patrols. And really that wouldn't be anything new he'd be seeing. Which makes me sound like I wander around the living room and kitchen like that all the time....

Yay the woes of a superhero!

See, but I'd be okay with a demon called Carnage. At least it's straight to the point. What's a Glurgg demon do? You know? Well, firstly, it's almost completely pus, but Glurgg doesn't really get the name across, does it?

Kind of making me wish I had the spider-powers just about now.

Long nights, long days, horrible medical care, and heaps of guilt. Yup, definitely the career of choice!

Now see, Glurgg has me picturing a Hydro-man sort of demon. Because it sounds very watery. Or drunk. I think I've heard that noise from a few people at the bar.

I feel like I should start worrying about pulling the blinds and locking the windows, but nope. I'd be perfectly fine with that.

And really snazzy outfits.

Don't worry, I think I have too. But not in a 'happy' bar situation.

And yet the giggling that happens afterwards sometimes. Welcome to the joys of working at a bar.

I honestly don't remember what was worse. Waking up to see that Faith was standing next to my mom or realizing that I was dead for however long. OMG, I did the most embarrassing stuff the first time I died. Like ruining friendship stuff. Thankfully, they were understanding, but man was it hairy at first.

I found him passed out on my bed the other night - Tuesday, I guess it was - and I know he was taking this pretty rough. You've got a very loyal friend and brother. He loves you a lot.

So yeah, let's not go with crossing any hearts and anything that comes after.

Anyway, I'll make sure he's marched off to bed if I have to kick him out. Scout's honor.

You can drown in the "Hey I was in heaven and then got yanked out into hell" thing like I did. But you kind of have to really be into self loathing for that. You've been around a lot longer than I have, don't let it kick you while you're down, Peter. It does get better. I know that's what everyone says, but I can promise you that.

I was mostly joking about kicking him out. If you need him, he's gonna be there, and he should.

I know, I know. Kinda kicked the bucket a few times already, and I'm still here, right? Just keep chugging away, and life smoothes out. Or, y'know, a rampaging guy in a rhino costume gives you something slightly more pressing to focus on until it does.

Nah, it's okay. He's probably running on fumes, and I'm the oldest. So he gets to listen when I tell him to get outta here and go pass out.

Usually the latter - for me. Not so much on the dude in a rhino costume, though. It would have been a giant rhino looking demon. At least it takes your mind off it for a little while. Move onto the next thing which may or may not be as big or bad, but at least you've got a duty to keep you going.

He was last time I saw him. Probably best to let him crash on your couch so he can make sure you're still there.
