All right, so this is complicated, but I'm going to try to give you the short version.
I can't sense Peter, exactly. It's as if he's here but not, which I realize doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but the point is that this Otto Octavius person is the only mind I can connect with. Apparently, back in your world, he was dying and he transferred his conscience into Peter's body. And vice versa. Peter, in Octavius's body, sought him out with help from the Sinister Six and they fought. Unfortunately, the real Peter lost and, presumably, everyone assumed Otto was defeated by his heroic enemy.
On the other hand, Peter was able to use some of Otto's own tech to transfer his memories into the other man's mind. This forced Octavius to feel Peter's sense of responsibility. In the process, it seems there was something else left of Peter since Otto experienced some minor moments of lost control before the Tesseract brought him here.
Now, because they are technically the same body, it appears that Otto's arrival shoved Peter into a similar spectral state. That's the theory Octavius has come up with, anyway, and it fits what we know. There seems to be little I can do to fix this. Perhaps without my mental blocks in place, I could try something, but I don't know. I can't take the chance, either way. I'm sorry. I can, however, keep him complacent for awhile longer, if you would like.
