"That's pretty much the summary of what happened. It wasn't even me really fancying him. I never talked to him again." Kitty felt like she had more in common with him. They were the same age and loved tech, and it was completely different from what she had with Pete. And Piotr for that matter. So she was thrown off by what she felt was an emotional betrayal. Apparently so did he, since he decided to let it go and move on. She couldn't fault him for it. It was his life and she owed him the respect to let him make a choice.
"Yes I loved you. I was confused, but we were ... you said it too." She felt a little insecure, not sure if she could fully say that without some doubts. It did seem easy for him to leave her. Pete was the type of man to say what he meant. Those words were hard to say. "I know we're new and this is a lot to process, and you aren't even close to feeling that way about me yet. And this might change it anyway." Kitty respected that too. They crashed and burned because of her immaturity. He owed her nothing.
"I still feel things. I think I'll always feel things for you." She fell head over heels intensely for him. Maybe it was because they were argumentative and tested each other. Pete was fascinating and funny. She felt empowered when they were together, like he was into her for the right reasons. "I wanted to talk to you, but we left it so poorly." And he kept his distance. He chose it.
"No. You can't. When you get out definitely." Kitty changed a look at him. "I'm so sorry," she said ago, with firm determination.
