In the heartbeat between Cas's name coming out of his mouth and the angel's appearance in front of him, it occurred to Sam that Cas might also be gone. He experienced a brief moment of relief when he saw the angel, and let out a huff of breath. "Thank god," he said, ignoring the irony of that statement in favor of the more pressing matter at hand. "Exactly. Dean. I need you to find him."
He lifted the phone which was, amazingly, still in his hand. He supposed he had years of training to thank for that, to avoid dropping whatever he was holding even when he was panicking. "I was on the phone with him, and the call dropped out--"
But he didn't want to explain. He just wanted to know. Well, he wanted Dean to be here, obviously, but if he wasn't then he wanted to know. Except he really didn't, but he had to. "Just find him, okay?"
