There is a rather classic villain/hero trope. Both are locked in combat at some great height -- rooftop, cliff, cliff beside a waterfall, scaffolding, clock tower, Notre Dame, etc -- the villain falls but the hero catches his hand. The villain then decides to be very fucking stupid and decide that if he's dying, he's taking the hero with him and tries to pull the hero down, stab him, shoot him in the face or otherwise end them both. But when he makes a move to do so the hero, you know, lets the villain go. Because obviously you're not going to hold on to someone trying to shoot you in the face.
Now, my question is: has this or comparable situations ever happened to you -- and if you, how often? Because it seems to me like you were born for this trope.
