Zack's smile grew into a little chuckle as that tone of obvious concern morphed into one of awkward apology. Whatever was bringing on this sudden outward preoccupation with Zack's well-being, at least he wasn't the only one who felt a bit odd about it all.
"Really really, weird, yeah" Zack agreed, feeling a moment of lightness as he threw himself back into the immediate present. Dwelling on the past would only cripple him, and he was going to trust they were safe enough for the moment. "Not that I don't appreciate the concern, but I've got it under control.
"Now what's this about making a habit of shuffling others off to bed?" The words were not sarcastic, but rather framed with a warm curiosity and a hint of grin. He had no idea what Cloud's life might be like in the future -- trying to pry homelife out of him had never been particularly easy -- but in spite of (or perhaps because of) the seriousness, he couldn't help a teasing poke, even if he was somewhat purposefully taking it out of context. With eyebrows raised, he added, "Any special ladies in your life that I should be aware of?"
