Sara and I are currently in Ravello, and we absolutely don't want to come back. I'm no stranger to dodging customs, but unfortunately, I think we're going to do the legal thing and come back to New York before our tourist Visas expire.
Here are some photographs of our trip:
The Gardens at Villa Cimbrone. They were planted there because of a love affair - what else? - though there have been gardens on the spot since the 11th Century.
Oh, that water. This was taken half a mile from where the myth of the sirens began. (We saw no sirens. Unless you count Sara.)
Renting a boat. No one fell in. We're getting seasoned at this.
This church in Amalfi features beautiful Baroque-style ornamentation. Most of it adhered to the wall very nicely. When I checked.
One of the many beaches along the Amalfi Coast.
All that snow in New York is looking pretty nasty in comparison right now...
It was all I could do not to walk away with this statue. Thank you Sara for advising otherwise.
The round building you see on the cliff is the Italian equivalent of a lighthouse. Ireland built similar structures - James Joyce lived in one. It's the American lighthouse model that's so unusual.
A gigantic picture of me in the window of the train station in Rome when we arrived! Eerie, sure, but it's so nice to be liked.
