Wesley smiled a little bitterly, and nodded his agreement. Despite the prophecy regarding the vampire with a soul, and the idea that it might be a good thing for Angel in the end, and possibly had kept him going a few times, Wesley was leaning towards not taking prophecies too seriously.
Wesley glanced over at the man across from him and nodded. "I'd like to say it doesn't matter, and at times I even think it, but of course it does." He didn't need to explain that too thoroughly. He suspected Severus understood that well enough himself.
Wesley wondered briefly how that was for Severus. He had seen Lily on the networks, and Severus was much older than Lily was and had seen much more. He knew how difficult it was to watch someone you cared for with another person, whatever the circumstance, but it was all too much thought to put forth at the moment so instead he simply tore off another piece of bread and ate it. After he finished and washed it down with a drink he offered Severus a half smile.
"I suppose we get a second chance here whatever our past sins." He looked down at the mostly eaten soup and bread bowl. "I'm thinking it might be time to see if that chocolate is worth taking any home to Fred. I promised her I would bring her something, and I don't think a tiny plastic wannabe fortress sends the right message somehow."
