"I hadn't considered that, but I ought to have," Wesley nodded and continued nodding throughout Severus' explanation. It had been his sense of the situation upon reading the books himself, but then he knew that he tended to have a fluid view of the matter. It wasn't that he didn't believe in right or wrong responses or light or dark magic, but he understood that sometimes you had to do something that seemed bad in order to have a good turn-out... and hopefully it was a good turnout.
"I suppose I should say that it isn't quite that clear-cut in my world either. There are spells that could be used for both purposes and sometimes spells that were intended as punishment can end up being a good thing, which is a whole other situation. Generally I tend to feel that when people believe there is a clear-cut right answer, they're wrong. You can't always know all of the information perfectly, therefore, it's difficult to know precisely that something is going to be right. And sometimes someone has to make the hard call." He frowned slightly. He had been that person more times than he would like to have thought about over the past year.
"I believe he did do that yes," Wesley nodded. "And I've no idea. I suspect in some cases they might - I know that Buffy works for them, for instance, and I suspect that if she felt they needed experts on vampires or demons from our reality, she'd contact us. At least that's the impression I've gotten... but it could be an inaccurate impression. Either way, it's somewhat a moot point. If SHIELD fails to contain a dangerous entity, then it no longer becomes only their problem." Wesley couldn't say that he liked the idea of the Dark Lord arriving through the tesseract - or for that matter some of the more crazy Death Eaters listed in the Harry Potter books. Bellatrix Lestrange, for instance? Not wild about it.
