Severus was in a state that could almost be called relaxed. Not that he ever truly relaxed but at least he wasn't as hyper-aware of his surroundings and the people in it as he usually was. Even being in the tower he hadn't felt able to relax his guard, possibly because there were the Marauders so many people from his world there and most of them were Gryffindors. Not the sort of people he usually trusted. But here, even among so many strangers, he felt as much at peace as he expected he was capable of these days.
His choice of travelling companion was probably also contributing to his mood. His offer to Wesley had been spur of the moment but he certainly didn't regret it. He'd spoken with him a few times on the network and enjoyed their conversations and the quick research he'd done on the internet had shown him that he and Wesley shared more than a few similarities. All in all, he thought it could be an interesting weekend.
He nodded his acceptance of the table Wesley had chosen and brought over his own tray of chowder. It had smelled too good to walk past and he rather liked the efficiency of using a sourdough loaf as the bowl. It certainly cut down on the clean up. You ate your soup and then the bowl and were left with only the spoon to dispose of.
"The better question is what makes the average tourist lose all sense of taste and intelligence and buy that plastic rubbish?" he said with dry amusement as he sat down opposite Wesley. He nodded towards the bowl on the tray. "I'm pleased to see you've regained your appetite. It's not an uncommon reaction to a first apparition, even among those who are magical."
