Filter: Fred & Lydia
Lydia, listen to me, and please believe me - one day you'll know love, and you'll know that what you had with Wickham was not love. It was destructive. It was a constant bargaining process. "If you love me, you'll do XYZ" does not equal love. Love doesn't ask to prove itself. It's not a game.
Also, hear this - you don't need him. You are loud, sure, and you get drunk, and I don't think there's anything wrong with being a bit obnoxious, but you're more than that. You are not being kind to yourself, which is madness because you are kind. You're funny, and vibrant, and so much fun to be around. Your worth has NOTHING to do with him. Nothing. He didn't make you better. I hated seeing you with him. You were so much less than yourself when he was there. He was like a fucking Dementor.
I'm glad you trust me, and you need to believe that I'll always be here, but not romantically, at least not yet. You need to love yourself before you can love someone else.
