It's a pie in the sense that it's baked in a circular pan, has a bottom crust, and is usually served in slices. That's about where the similarities end; there's no top crust, there usually isn't any fruit, and it's more of an entree than a dessert. The great thing about pizza is that there are endless toppings. Pepperoni (or plain) with mozzarella and tomato sauce is the old stand-by, but there are all kinds of sauces and cheeses and meats and vegetables. That said, I'd stick with the basics for your first slice. Try Little Italy on Park Place. It's a 5-minute drive or a 10-minute walk.
