Java Moment was a rather nice cafe, Annie had to admit. She hadn't been to it yet, having no real reason to visit one, but she liked it. The two plush, mismatched chairs in the corner that she'd secured for herself and Mulder had a nice view of the entire interior and it let Annie people-watch for a few minutes while she waited for the G-man to arrive.
She sat squished in the chair sideways, her slippers tucked in beneath her and her gaze drifting restlessly over the other patrons. She had to be a little careful not to stare. After all, normally she couldn't be seen and so she was used to lingering around and listening to people without them noticing her -- it was a hard habit to break. Even when people stared at, or addressed her specifically, it would sometimes take her a moment to realise they actually meant her and not someone else standing behind.
On her knee she balanced an untouched mug of plain Earl Grey tea. She'd taken the bag out and laid in on the saucer, but that's about as far as it went. She couldn't drink it -- but she didn't want to take up space without ordering something. That, she felt, would look a little bit weird, and truth be told she did want to blend in as much as was possible. She didn't like feeling like she was different, a refugee, a ghost -- she wanted to just be Annie.
And Annie certainly remembered having quite a few X-Files posters up in her room when she was about eleven years old. Besides pictures cut from teen magazines of the Spice Girls and Robbie Williams, her bedroom was adorned with Mulder and Scully. She even had an "I Want to Believe"-styled UFO-photograph poster. She was happy none of that had ever made it to her television series in this place -- She would have never agreed to meet with Mulder if he might have been able to find out what a ridiculous fan she'd once been. As it was, she was still very excited to meet him and being a lot more worldly than she'd been as a little girl, she felt she'd be able to keep herself mostly composed.
Though she did allow herself a moment to smile ridiculously when he first popped his head into the cafe.
