Remus stared at his journal in shock. Tonks. Was coming here. With dinner. And he'd agreed to it. What was worse, he'd said he'd get dessert. What in the world was wrong with him? It was ridiculous. Yes, they'd gone to a movie, but he'd tried very hard not to encourage her too much. It wouldn't be fair to her, to encourage her to get involved with him. He'd meant what he'd told Sirius the other day, that...
Remus stopped in the act of putting on his shoes. Sirius. He'd said he was going to set Remus up on a blind date. And now, suddenly, out of the blue, Tonks was coming over?
He was going to bloody wring bloody Sirius' bloody neck.
He supposed Tonks just felt sorry for him, or maybe liked him enough as a friend to agree to whatever Sirius had proposed. He didn't like being set up as a sort of 'pity date', though. Stuffing his sudden anger down deep, he finished putting on his shoes and picked up his jacket. He would be a gentleman, though; he wasn't going to rude to her. He really did like Tonks, and the evening could be enjoyable, if he could prevent himself from thinking about how Sirius was trying to set him up--and even more, set Tonks up--for disappointment.
He warned Lily of what was happening, ignoring her smile and pointed comments that she'd stay out of the way, then left to get something for dessert.
