Who: Evil!Diana and Evil!Percy
What: The two come across each other and get into it back during the mirror plot
Where: Streets of Tumbleweed
When: Backdated to June 15
Rating: Just some demigods slugging it out.
Percy stared up at the large water tank suspended over the city, and partially wanted to kick himself for not targeting it to begin with. If he wanted to do some serious damage, there were a few of those around. And with it being darker than before, that meant Percy could seriously play. Why attack one place at a time when he could have gotten a bunch of them at once?
As he reached up with his hands, pulling at the water to burst through the metal walls of the tank, Percy fondly remembered the first time he’d done this, when it was Luke Castellan at the receiving end. Gods, he should have drowned him a long time ago. Ah, well..
Diana was meandering down the street, her armor underneath the clothes she wore. It was another dull and boring day in Tumbleweed and she was looking for something to do. The creaking of metal caught her ears and she looked over to see water starting to come through one of the tanks. A brow lifted in intrigue and upon looking for the culprit, she saw him. A young man, possibly a teenager with his hands lifted.
“And what did that water tank ever do to you?” she drawled.
Percy’s good mood was just too high to be ruined by someone interrupting. Technically they weren't. He had enough hold on the water to keep it as he turned to look over his shoulder at the person. Ugh. Of course.
“Aren't guys too good for you to talk to?”
He turned back toward the tank, successfully managing to break one. The wall of the tank fell toward the ground but Percy cared not at all to where it fell.
A brow lifted at his question. “You honestly think that you’re better than me?” She ignored the breaking water tank, her focus on the teenager. “Would you care to back up that statement that you’re better than a woman? Or are you like most men in being strictly all talk with nothing to show for it?” She rested her arms over her chest, not crossing them (so they would be easier to bring to bear should Percy attack) and waited for the boy’s answer.
Percy scrunched up his face in annoyance without looking at her. Guess he had more of his attention on what he was doing than what he was saying. “I meant, you’re too good for guys. Whatever. Look, I’m busy, and my beef isn’t with you, so, walk away.” He let his eyes wander to the nearest shop and found a clothing boutique. Releasing vermin in a restaurant and getting the manager was fun and all, but it already had been a hassle getting creatures, that he settled for just leaving water damage in shops from outside and inside sources (why he just loved sprinkler systems).
“Unless you want to help,” he added to Diana as an afterthought.
She narrowed her eyes slightly at his dismissal (which almost sounded like an order). She followed his gaze to the clothing store and she took a few steps in front of his line of vision. “This is really the best you’ve come up with, with the power you have?” she asked. She shook her head. “We are the children of gods Percy and you’re wasting your powers doing these...pathetic pranks.”
Diana sighed in disappointment. “You are pathetic.”
Percy shrugged. “Start off small, keep them unsuspecting, then wipe them out.” He gave her a humorless smile. “You don’t think I know who my dad is? I can control the entire frickin’ sea. And even if we’re in the middle of a desert, there’s water literally everywhere. I mean, do I need to tell you what percentage of human bodies is water?”
If he focused hard enough, he was pretty sure he was pretty sure he’d be able to sense her blood running through her with every heartbeat, every amount of fluid in her cells.
But that would be too much work and she was really not worth it. Instead he focused on the water he’d just taken hold of and directed it straight at her.
Diana leapt easily over the water and landed behind Percy, a cold smirk on her face. “Your father may control the seas, but my father was his king.” Lifting her arms she slammed the bracers together, sending out a shockwave towards the younger demigod. She ran in after it, wanting to see just what Percy could do. He still had the potential to be a worthwhile ally. And if not, well, best to take care of him now before he became too much of a threat.
The shockwave hit Percy and he flew backwards, but his instincts kicked in. He circled the water protectively back around him, stopping himself in mid-air and keeping himself above ground. “Come on, really? You’re wasting my time and probably yours too.” Not that he really cared what she did with her time, so long as it didn’t involve him. Separating two streams of water from his makeshift water hoverboard, he solidified them into large sharp icicles and sent them her way.
Blocking the icicles were easy with her bracers. She kept her eyes on him. “So what exactly are your plans Percy? Annoy humanity until they make you ruler?” She snorted in amusement. “We could be so much stronger if you were to work with me.”
“Oh, please,” he said, propelling himself up to the highest building nearby (which wasn’t all that high -- this wasn’t New York City). “Talk about how men are weak, this and that, and now you want me to work with you? I’m not planning on being anyone’s bitch.” He pulled out his pen, clicking it to transform it into his sword, Riptide. “And my actual plans are nobody’s business.”
“You are not a man Percy, you are a god.” She easily leapt up to the roof as well, tugging her sword free from underneath the coat she had worn to hide it. She was rather intrigued by the pen turning into a sword. She narrowed her eyes and charged in, feinting to the right before swinging the sword from the left.
He had an advantage, maybe slightly unfair, but whatever, not like it mattered to him that much, as long as he got the upper hand. They could sword fight but Percy grew up with the natural ability to keep track of everything going on around him. So he could sword-fight and control water at the same time, and that’s exactly what he was planning on doing. He caught her sword with his own but just barely. He stumbled back, but righted himself up and attacked with his sword while sending a wave of water at her feet to disrupt her.
Percy may have an advantage at being able to control water, but Diana had been trained by the best of the Amazons. She saw the water heading at her out of the corner of her eye and quickly leapt up, knocking away the sword. She was done playing now. Her eyes narrowed and she renewed her attacks on him, each more vicious than the last.
Percy grit his teeth as her sword hit his, blocking her every move. Too much blocking though, not enough chance for him to get an offensive move in. He had a feeling she was good, and she was proving him right, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to try fighting back. Although leaving would have been a better idea to save his ass.
After the last sword clash, Percy propelled himself even higher. “I’m not interested in taking you down, I’m interested in getting you to leave me the hell alone!”
Diana watched him retreat and she smirked a little. “Then I suggest you quit making a mess of my town boy. Find something more constructive to do else your head will decorate my wall.” She pointed her sword at him. “Now leave.”
Percy frowned at her. “This isn’t your town, or something. Go back to your stupid island.” He wasn’t about to bother landing back down and staking a claim though. There was still the rest of the town. There was still the need to find the closest forest or something, gather up more water to do more damage. He’d turn his attention to the town later.
Gathering up the water around him again, he shot a whole tidal wave of it back toward her once more before propelling himself further up and away from the building.
“Trust me, if Themyscira existed here I would be there in a heartbeat.” She leapt up in the air and floated there above the water. “So this town is mine. But thank you for giving me an idea of what to do with it. I’ll turn this town into New Themyscira.” She waved her hand. “On your way then boy. Cause your destruction elsewhere.”
