Functioning in real life is a lot harder than a lot of these tv shows make it out to be.

Getting a job, for example. It's not that easy. I'm taking a break from literally walking door-to-door asking if anyone is hiring. The only potential place is a coffee shop. It's actually not a bad gig, considering.

I mean, I do like the smell of coffee.

Important question, do you get a discount?

Hey, I asked when I applied.

They said yes.

I've got a good feeling about the place. They said that I had a nice looking face, and that people that drink coffee like cute baristas.

Guess that means I'm cute.

I mean, it's one of the perks right? If you're going to do the coffee thing, you ought to get a discount.

I can imagine that's true. Congratulations on being cute, by the way.

I definitely think they should be listing it in the job options as one. Another perk — offering discounts to friends and family.

Well I never thought I was particularly cute, but my girlfriend thinks I am so that's all that matters.

Probably, although maybe they don't want the secret to get out.

That's the most important thing for sure.

A coffee shop would be a great place to work! I lucked out and found a job at The Magic Box.

Taking a stab in the dark here, but is that a magic shop?

It is. I mean none of it's real, most people just buy stuff for fun, but I find something amusing about a witch working in a muggle magic shop.

Guess it's a bit ironic. You can do real magic, and here you are peddling the goods of fake magic to people.

You ever think you'll use your magic just to sell a product?

Exactly.

I'm not sure, probably not. I don't really like using magic against muggles unless I absolutely need to. I HAVE been doing a pretty decent job, and I did overhear a costumer say, "I'm pretty sure she's a real witch." to one of their friends, I took it as a compliment.

Well it's not really against them. It's like displaying the product with a little bonus, you know. And when it doesn't have the same result they'll come back looking for more.

Unless that's frowned upon.

That place is super close to the newspaper office. You will be seeing me frequently.

And someone will be getting a discount when they do come in.

TV shows lie.

I'm slightly exhausted by the idea of a job, but I think I'd prefer books to people.

Yeah I'm seeing that. Still can't get enough of it, though. Damn that Netflix!

Yeah, books are great. But so is a job because then you can buy more books. Or... be a librarian? The most interaction you'd have is shushing people and occasionally having to check out books. But all the books at your disposal can't be a bad thing.

That's true enough.

I was thinking I'd work with books and less so with people. Either a bookstore or a librarian. I guess I could pull of the grumpy librarian or eclectic bookstore person.
