Mild explosions were not uncommon in Howard Stark's lab. Nor were endless cups of coffee and an inventor who rarely slept when possessed with an idea. He'd already built a computing unit which took up the entire back corner of the lab. A clock on it ticked ominously.
And as such, there was little amiss when the soldering iron lit up the room with its orange glow. On the other side of the burning ember, he sealed the connection between a delicate cylindrical tube and a copper-like stopper, which lead to a cage made of iron mesh. Once that iron mesh was electrified, the important item in his pocket would bind to him. It would become part and parcel with who Howard was.
Weak, in-effectual Howard Stark could not predict the variance of gravitational waves, nor predict where next they would be transported. That Howard Stark could neither be the hero of the story, like all of those who crowded in around him. But he could make a hero of himself yet.
He dropped the soldering iron and flipped his mask up, seizing a vial in his pocket. A whirling mass of black liquid greeted him and beneath the sweat, beneath the dark circles under his eyes, he smiled. The zero matter would bring him the appreciation and the ability he deserved.
