log; nico & anakin WHO: Anakin di Angelo & Nico Solo ;) WHEN: Following their wedding, evening WHERE: Italy. SUMMARY: Honeymoon talk, and future thoughts cause they have one here. WARNINGS: Fluff. Married people.
Anakin was staring out at a sunset, as he took in the colors and the shifting shadows across the city and alleyways and buildings around them, he reached out in the Force towards his husband - husband - and prompted, knowing Nico would find him.
Because they should be enjoying this view together. This view was kind of incredible and absolutely a perfect way to end their first official honeymoon day together. There was a half thought that the only way it could be better was if they had been on Naboo again, but that thought was muted almost as quickly. His galaxy wasn't better than this one, it was just home. Or it was a sort of home and he would maybe always miss it, but there was a realization too that Earth had become home, and that he didn't hate it.
He'd been on this planet - or some variation of - for nearly five years. Since he was fifteen, and he'd been fortunate enough to spend most of those years with Nico as a friend. And now it was clear to him that they'd be able to spend a full life-time together, something he wasn't going to get at home. Something he'd never been certain that he'd get here. And absolutely there were still uncertainties, there were always uncertainties, but they weren't made of the certainty that at some point one or the other of them would go back through the portal. That certainty was no longer among the uncertainties.
Anakin grinned.
"I hope you brought something to drink," he said aloud, as he sensed Nico behind him.
It was a good thing that Anakin spoke up, otherwise there was no telling how long Nico may have just stayed, staring. The scene was just too perfect, almost like a dream. A place from his past that he only got to truly appreciate here. Here with Anakin to boot. The glow the sunset threw over everything. Faint church bells in the distance chiming the hour and the lap of water in the canals. And then there was Anakin. His husband. If getting used to the term boyfriend had taken a bit, ‘husband’ was going to as well. Maybe not in casual conversation, but just in thinking of it in these private moments and truly feeling its weight. Even after all these years together, years of just being out, a part of him still looked at a moment like this with disbelief. As if it were an illusion that’d disappear if he blinked at the wrong time.
But Anakin’s words brushed that small combination of lingering doubt and awe away. Nico shook his head as a fond grin quirked his lips. Hiding the bottle of wine and glasses behind his back, he came up behind Anakin, leaning in to hook his chin over the other boy’s shoulder.
“Is that what that Force poke meant?” he asked, eyebrow raising. “What if all I’ve got is this?”
Tilting his head, he brushed his lips against Anakin’s cheek.
Anakin grinned at the brush of Nico's lips against his skin, and he turned to regard him steadily. "Well, good thing this," he waved a hand opposite down as if suggesting the entire length of Nico, "is all I really ever want."
He raised an eyebrow, and reached one hand out to slip around Nico's waist. "Of course, I also want your hands…?"
Nico melted, his look turning even fonder. Sure, the line was cheesy and, sure, he should be used to it by now, but the setting and situation was getting the better of him. “That’s a good answer, Mr. di Angelo,” he murmured, his grin turning a bit goofy as his stomach fluttered.
He leaned in for another kiss, this time aimed for the lips. A little distraction as he played at keeping his hands away from whatever attempts Anakin made to make good on that ‘wanting his hands’ statement. Keep away didn’t last too long though and he held his hands out to the side, two glasses in one and a bottle of wine in the other.
“They’re a little occupied, but if you really still want that drink, that could open them up.”
Anakin was already grinning and couldn't really grin more at Nico's words, but they flipped his stomach anyway. They were nice words, and the idea that they were connected here, but even beyond that - they could stay - was really, really, really nice and he couldn't entirely believe that a wedding present like that was theirs. And sure it wasn't really just for them, but it was enough.
He kissed Nico, and laughed as he reached for the bottle of wine. With a quirky raise of his eyebrows he used the Force to uncork the wine bottle, and then poured them both a glass.
"This seems pretty much perfect. I love the view," he was looking straight at Nico, not really at the scenery, and he leaned forward to punctuate this idea with another kiss.
After the kiss, Nico’s head ducked, his cheeks pinking despite the fact that this wasn’t the first time Anakin had pulled that line. Another thing he should be used to, but it still made him bashful and giddy. Even when the retort was obvious and easy.
“Mine’s better,” he shot back before wrinkling his nose. “Even if it’s a bit showy.” He raised his glass to make a point, not that it was a serious one. It was one of the things he enjoyed that Anakin got a chance to do here. To relax with how he used the Force. To be more fun and playful with it. And yes, flirty too. Just one of many perks of this world. Some really, really good perks. He chuckled, the happiness and still disbelief bubbling up.
“I know there was the wedding and getting here and everything, but this is really happening, isn’t it?” he breathed out. “You and me? Here for as long as we want? I keep waiting for someone to pinch me and wake me up.”
Anakin's grin faded into something less quick and more dreamy, always, always lopsided just a bit. "I know."
He breathed in quietly. It felt like it was a lifetime ago that Jacen had sat him down - the whole family - and explained what happened in the future. An equal lifetime ago that Anakin had ended up in Nico's room, because who better to talk to than the son of the god of the underworld when you found out you died not so very long in your future at home? And all that time, that future had been sitting there over his head. All of the time since, it had been a very real thing he could return to. And now, he knew he wouldn't have to. That didn't mean anything was safe or certain here, but it was here. An Unknown.
"It's really happening, Nico." He stepped forward, reaching for the other man's waist and pulling him in. "This is us for as long as we want."
Nico leaned into Anakin, happy for the contact as well as the words. It was strange to think that when he’d first gotten here, getting touched, let alone held, like this would’ve had his nerves on edge and him ready to jump out of his own skin. And that wasn’t even factoring in a relationship. A relationship that’d gone this far, well, back then, he wouldn’t have believed it. Even if the words were coming out of his own mouth. But here he was. With his husband. And even if the portal would likely toss weird and dangerous scenarios their way, that danger wasn’t the same as one of them getting taken unexpectedly to a place the other couldn’t follow. Wrapping his arm around Anakin, he nodded, his smile soft and fond.
“As long as we want,” he echoed, before holding his glass of wine up, inviting a toast. “So, how about ‘to forever’?”
This got a genuine grin back on Anakin's lips as he reached for his glass. "That sounds perfect to me. To forever," he echoed, before taking a sip of the wine. And as he put it down again he leaned forward to catch Nico, his husband, up in a kiss that he knew he could repeat as many times as he wanted to: for the rest of his life.
