WHO: Anyone who taught or attended the Bureau's Tumbleweed Orientation WHEN: Wednesday & Thursday WHERE: Fort Neill Resettlement Bureau WHAT: Bureau's Tumbleweed Orientation
______________
The orientation begins at 9am. If you arrive early, you will find coffee, tea and pastries. You don't have to have any, but you're welcome to them. There's also water and iced tea for those who want something colder. There's a lot to tackle in each day.
1. TUMBLEWEED & BEYOND: An introduction to Tumbleweed, including maps, landmarks, and details on what's around. We'll talk about the weather at various points of the year and what to expect. For those experienced with technology, there will be a quick bit about how to use maps online and GPS. For those who don't, there's a tech lesson later.
2. CITIZENSHIP & JOBS: This section will go into detail on documentation within the Bureau, phone numbers we use for confirmation and whenever people are checking with your references for jobs that aren't with a member of the Displaced. This includes things like High School and College degrees, doctorates, medical degrees, etc. Any specialties you were involved in in your world.
3. LOCAL LAWS & CUSTOMS: Clive Babineaux, the local Bureau sheriff, will give a run down on local laws — most of which, you as players already know — but he will give a rundown for those who are from other worlds and may not know certain things. The customs section will be devoted to popular things in Tumbleweed, Texas, and the United States. Like how High School Football is very much a Friday Night Lights situation, the amount of churches there is crazy because it's part of the bible belt, slang, etc.
4. TECHNOLOGY & ELECTRONICS: For those who are from various time periods or worlds without similar tech, this is a good beginners section on how to work a TV, what IS a TV, internet, phones, etc. There will be people willing to walk you through things.
5. STAYING UNDER THE RADAR: Superpowers in an unpowered world. This is a little course on how people here don't understand powers, and how we're trying to stay under their RADAR. No one wants you to NOT be yourself, but the last time someone did something really huge in the middle of town, the military came in and was in charge so we're looking for that to not repeat.
Each section, has a Q&A so you can ask very specific questions as needed. Both days have the same sessions, so you're not required to go to both days. Lunch will also be served with a variety of items.
