Blue had never been so close to the stars before, and somehow being even closer only made her long for them even more. It was a completely irrational longing, to be part of them somehow, to live inside them, so that the star was -- as her father had put it -- her skin-house. It was a longing she had inherited from him, a tir e e'lintes.
But she was also part human, and so her body was her skin-house. She couldn't live inside a tree as her father did, so she definitely couldn't live inside a star (no matter how much faith Gansey had in her). But she could see them, feel them calling to her with every fiber of her being.
Tearing herself away from them was almost impossible, but she did it, because she did need to find her room before she got tired enough to need it. She wandered down the corridor with Gansey, waving her hand in front of each door, which was seeming more and more futile by the minute.
And then, suddenly, room 125 opened up for her.
"Oh!" she said, an involuntary breath of surprise. "Look! This one's mine."
She poked her head inside. Last time she'd been late to the cruise and already had a roommate; this time appeared to be no different.
"Howdy, stranger," she said to the guy already in her room.
