Who: Will Solace and Leo Valdez
Where: Camp Half-Blood
When: Shortly after Nico drops him off
What: Will is reunited with Leo, again
Rating: Low

The ride to the house that he would now be calling his own for a while at been very informative if not really awkward and a little heart breaking. Will didn't need to let on a lot that not being with Nico hurt - they had been together for six months back home and that was a long time for Will. Still, he didn't fault Nico for finding someone else and Will really was happy for Nico.

The first thing he did was check out his 'cabin' which was really his room. It looked almost the same and almost felt the same too except there were no other children of Apollo there. If there were no other kids, was he still cabin counselor? He spent a good half hour on his bed letting his mind wander and the events of the day so far settle in. Hunger was what drew him out of his room. Hunger, and the desire to find Leo and say hi.

He found the eating area and managed a banana before heading off towards where he heard faint sounds of tinkering. Had they been home, it could have been anyone, but since he had been assured there was only one other demigod in the house, Will knew it had to be Leo. When he found the right place, he smiled and decided to lean against the door, watching Leo while eating his fruit. It was always fun to see how long a Hephaestus kid could do building something before they noticed people.

Being the only one in the house, Leo hadn't spent much time actually sleeping in the house. But he couldn't leave it. He worried that if he left, it would leave, too. He'd spent most of his nights sleeping in the forge, curled up with Festus or wherever he ended up. Having just gotten some celestial bronze and imperial gold from Santa, plus the Stygian Iron that he got from Nico. He hadn't been able to do much with that, though. He supposed it had something to do with parentage, but it was still nice to have it.

Rey was around and he wasn't overly worried about her. For the most part. He did manage to check as often as possible to make sure that the Falcon was still around now that Rey had kept it in Camp. He hadn't ventured out today, but he was tinkering with a few things and trying to plan out a new project. The armory was around, but he could still make some new weapons maybe. Or even a shield. He had a few ideas bouncing around. No more ships, but something.

He hadn't noticed Will standing there, but Festus made some small clicking noises and he glanced up. "Oh. Hey." He glanced around, rubbing his hands off on his clothes, which really only left them more grease-stained then before. "Uh. When did you get here?"

Will smiled. Even if Leo looked a little older, he clearly hadn't changed too much. Seeing him in the familiar space with grease and everything made Will feel a little more at ease, even if he knew that Leo was from their future and there had been some stuff that happened.

"About an hour ago, actually. Nico came to pick me up." His smile was a little bittersweet which probably indicated how that had went and what he knew of Nico and Anakin. "Then I took a look around this place - I can't believe Camp Half-Blood is a house." It was neat, though. "But I wanted to find you and say hi. I needed the familiarity, if I'm going to tell the truth."

Leo understood the feeling that that smile came with. He didn't have good luck with relationships either. At least he wasn't the only one. Though, he didn't find the person he'd been with with someone else. He wasn't sure if that was better or worse than them dying in the middle of a fight with pirates. He decided not to think about it much longer.

"It's a bit weird, yeah. At least there's something from home?" He shrugged. "Annabeth was here for a while and so the armory is here. The Obstacle course is here. It's pretty okay." He understood the need for familiarity, too. It just came with a weirdly intense fear of losing everything familiar. It was something he hadn't really experienced as much back home or at least not in this way. Since coming here, it hadn't been...great. Now he was just trying to focus on one day at a time. "Well, I guess that makes sense. Festus says hi."

At the mention of the obstacle course, his expression dropped just to a little concern. "Not like, the new one designed by Harley, is it?" As much as he loved Harley and liked challenges, he really didn't want to have to worry about sewing on any more limbs back onto people. Harley's death maze had been intense.

His smile brightened and he even gave a small way to Festus. "Hey Festus! Good to see you again." His gaze dropped back to Leo. "It's kind of weird saying hi to you after I almost literally just said by to you and Festus back home."

"I don't think so? But the one from before. Lava wall is still there." He studied Will's expression for a moment before shaking it off and looking around.

Festus made a series of noises and Leo smiled slightly, but it faltered for a moment when Will spoke to him again. "Oh. You're back there." It seemed so long since he'd left camp. "Your dad was fine. When we left. Had to take Pipes to her new home." There was a flicker of a feeling, but he put on a mask of neutrality to cover it up. "In case you were wondering."

"Is it weird I'm worried about him?" Will thought maybe it was a little weird considering technically Apollo was a god, or usually was, and in general the parent was supposed to be the one who worried about the child. Still, he couldn't help it. He knew a lot of other demigods felt a myriad of negative feelings to their godly parent from resentment to anger to hate, but Will never could muster those feelings. He sort of got it - maybe it helped having a famous mom who was also pretty busy all the time.

"Nico mentioned you're from future along. Still sort of wrapping my head around all that, but thankfully we deal in weird all the time so I'm not at a complete loss." Will pause, catching sight of Leo's hand. His expression went a little sober and then frowned. "Leo... what happened to your hand?" He took a few steps over to close the distance, reaching out to take a look at it if Leo would let him.

Leo shrugged. "No. I mean...he's your dad, so..." And despite everything, he actually really liked Apollo. They'd gotten close, become friends. He made some really bad choices and was kind of terrible as a god (what else was new?) but he was figuring things out.

There was a quick nod. "Yeah. There's a lot of stuff. It's kind of been a lot." When Will brought up his hand, he glanced over at it for a moment, reminded that it was something that had happened. "Oh this?" He didn't pull his hand away. "Yeah. Last cruise. We got mind controlled by a cruise ship and started turning into cyborgs. This stuck." He shrugged again, the the look on his face didn't quite show the 'everything is fine' message he was trying to show.

Will studied Leo's hand as he listened, A cruise ship turning people into cyborgs. It didn't sound pleasant at all. What had happened to Leo's actual hand? Would Will have been able to put Leo's had back he he been around then?

Will looked up at Leo, his brow still a little furrowed like his mind was still in the process of figuring things out still. One thing Will did know was that Nico had been right - Leo had been through a lot.

He put his arms around Leo and gave the boy a hug. There were different ways to be a healer, but right now Will just felt like Leo needed a hug and maybe someone to listen to, but that would probably take time.

What happened to Leo's actual hand was a mystery to Leo. He'd just woken up with a metal hand and it had seemed fine at the time. He wasn't mad. But then...he came back to his senses and he'd realized what it meant. He had a skin that went over it and made it look normal, but he never wore it when he was working. He was considering making a new hand out of celestial bronze or Imperial gold. Something that he felt would stand up to the heat.

The hug caught him off guard, so he went stiff. Once his mind caught up and he realized what was going on, he relaxed. It took him a few more moments before he was cognitively able to return the hug.

The way Leo responded to the hug was actually really familiar. The first couple of times Will had hugged Nico, the son of Hades had the same reaction. After a course of six months that had obviously changed, but Will didn't take Leo's reaction personally. He also was aware it had come out of nowhere. He was a patient guy.

Pulling back, Will rubbed the back of his neck and looked a little sheepish. "Sorry. I just thought you, uh, you know, needed that... call it doctor's orders." He took a step back so there were back to a comfortable distance apart. "Not that I'll be doing a lot of that around here if it's just the two of us."

Leo fidgeted, fingers tapping out words against his leg. He wasn't sure how else to act immediately after. "Yeah...it's...yeah." He shrugged as if that would even mean anything to anyone. Like if he shrugged everything off enough times it would miraculously be better.

"Well, people have a tendency to get hurt a lot around here, so they could probably use more people with healing abilities. There's like three doctors and a nurse and some girl that makes potions or whatever, I think? We get into a lot of trouble. And we have a limited supply of ambrosia and nectar." A pause. "Not that that would be useful to anyone but the three of us."

Will was willing to let the shrugging make things better in this instinct, though he couldn't help keep the fact stuff was bothering Leo in the back of his mind. Healing wasn't always about wounds, after all.

"That we have some ambrosia and nectar is good to know, though. I should... probably do some sort of inventory, huh?" He suddenly felt a little bad for not thinking about that earlier. Then again, it wasn't like there was a war on or anything. They had time, right?

"I'd like to keep doing that. It's the only thing I'm really good at." Plus it was the only thing he thought would truly make his dad proud. "What about you? Do you do this most of the time?" He gestured to the forge.

"It helps. Mine's in my room." He wasn't sure if Percy had had any and if he did, was it even still there? Things tended to disappear and Percy's old room was just a regular room now. It was filled with the things he bought while he was here, but it wasn't Poseidon cabin. Just a regular room.

"I mean, I don't know if it's all you've got," Leo said, affording him a kindness he was still working on giving himself. He looked around. "I do a lot of this, yeah. I have a part time job, but I don't really need it." He shrugged. Still, he did it. "Had to rebuild Festus again and then the Argo II.

"Nico mentioned Festus showed up with only his head." He shook his head, still impressed with what Leo was capable of. "And the Argo II. That's really impressive. I'll have to totally go for an official tour this time around." Though hopefully they never needed to use the Argo II in battle.

Did that technically mean the ship here was the Argo III?

He did appreciate Leo's kinds words, though. It had taken him a while, but he was okay with healing being his major skill. "I'm glad Festus is here, though, It would feel weird without him." Will considered Festus and Leo a package deal.

"It sucked. But I figured it out." He smiled a little. "Napoleon's boyfriend helped me figure out hiding the Argo II from vision." His voice caught for a moment on Napoleon's name, but he focused on Festus for a moment as he clicked. He glanced back at Will once his expression was a little more controlled.

"I prefer him around than not. He's a very heavy suitcase, but he's better to have around than not have around." He paused. "You hungry? There's some food in the house. I can make something."

"How about you just come with me and show me where the food is?" He appreciated the offer by Leo. It wasn't that Will was accusing him of being a terrible cook or anything, just he felt bad. "You can tell me how you rebuilt Festus while we eat something."

Leo quietly lamented the fact that he'd been too caught up in his own stuff to get fish to make anything with, but he could work with what he had in the fridge. He took a glance back at Festus before wiping his hands on his pants again and making his way towards the house. "I don't really have an abundance of frozen dinners, so it might be a minute, but I'll definitely make the proper demigod amount." He flashed Will a smile, more for show than anything else, but if anything else, Leo had every intention of eating as much as he could.
