Her fingers flexed against the spot where they rested upon his arms. The dread she'd felt hadn't been unwarranted, no matter how much she wished it had, and she steeled herself as best she could. James was no fool and there was no time for debate over whether it was cruel to confirm his suspicions. Instead of doing so, she gave a nod of her head in understanding.
Unless directly asked, she'd let him continue with his assumptions on the matter. There were so many ways to cope with where the future lay.
"It's been a very long time," she responded to the statement of her appearance. Years since that fateful night at sea, in fact. But the questions were coming now and she gave a shake of her head, "No. It is solely you and I." Her hands slipped down now.
"You've been pulled through what we call a Portal. It's very much like a doorway to another world," she explained, pausing to give him an opportunity to ask further questions.
