WHO: James Norrington & Elizabeth Swann WHEN: Friday Evening WHERE: FNRB WHAT: Elizabeth greeting James upon his arrival in Tumbleweed. TRIGGERS: TBD STATUS: In Progress!
______________
Many nights at the Bureau felt quiet, even though people typically described Tumbleweed as anything but this. The thing with the Bureau was that it was quiet until it wasn't. Many of her nights were spent simply on alert for the possibility of an appearance or an event that would not ultimately not occur. However -- when an appearance did arrive or an event did occur? She'd been part of this system for long enough that she was always capable of being collected.
Or so had been her thought. She'd never factored in how she'd respond should someone from her life back home were to arrive.
She'd straightened from her position in the viewing room attached to the Portal, leaning forward to peer through the glass. She'd come to understand that it was critical to pay attention to the very first moments of an individuals arrival. It was the best indicator of how the night was going to go. It was the opportunity to discover whether the interaction was going to be civil or combative. With folded hands leaning against the surface in front of her, there was an in take of breath as the figure came into view. A display of recognition across her features and she stood immediately. A silent claim to those around her that she'd be the one to greet this arrival. If it wasn't enough to her compatriots, a quiet "James" escaped from her lips, though this was not spoken for their benefit. It was spoken in disbelief to herself more than anything.
It'd been years since she'd last seen any friend from home and, as fate would have it, James had been that very friend. He'd been so briefly in Chicago but it came flooding back to her. His brief few weeks in a Century that was neither of their own. Given Tumbleweed hadn't shown any indication that it was to bring her friends from a life before here, she'd assumed that it would never occur.
Pushing back from the surface with her hands, she made her way for the door. One calming breath was given before she stepped through. Regardless of familiarity, she had a job to do here and it was keep him calm. Help him understand.
