who: Charlie Weasley & the Wolf Cubs when: Octoner 11th where: The Pit ---> Wolf Manor What: Charlie preserves Rocket's estate and goes home to cope with his friend going home. It ends with a dance party. warnings: Nope status: Complete.
Charlie had left the Pit early that day, letting Bill handle anything that may have come up throughout the day. Instead of focusing on work, he went out to focus on preservation. The Pit had been born out of a desire to give anyone the opportunity to work and live without worry of being questioned by the non Displaced. This not only meant for his community, allowing for them to practice magic and enjoy Quidditch, but also for other communities such as the Guardians. He had despised how Rocket had to pretend to be a service animal just to move around the city, just as he hated how some felt a need to mask their true appearance. The Pit was meant to be a safe place. And it had in some ways all began because of both the longing to have some part of his world back and because of his friendship with Rocket.
It was Rocket who had went in on it with Charlie. He had talked to Rocket about it well before he had ever brought Bill into the discussion. It had been their venture first and foremost. With Rocket gone, Charlie was refusing to believe in the stance that he might never return. No, Rocket would and it was just a matter of waiting for him to do so, and in the interim? Charlie was going to preserve everything that mattered to his friend so that it was ready when he came back.
This meant that there were new spells placed over the scrapyard. Weather shielding, pictures of the inventory, barriers to keep out potential looters. He did it all that day and when he was finished, he drew in a breath and nodded his head. That was that. He had done what he could.
Once he was finished, he had headed off to pick up the kids from school. He focused on them and listening to their day. He had long since learned not to wallow. He accepted that this was how life was here and it had been a hard lesson to learn but a necessary one. He needed to accept things in order to function. So even though his heart felt heavy, he focused on reaffirming his belief in returns, and turned his attention to his family. They were still here. With dinner in the oven (two frozen meals because Charlie was far better at grilling than actual cooking), he had moved into the living room and dropped down onto the sofa. A hand moved to turn on the television, quickly hitting the spotify app, and he stared for a moment before clicking on a playlist of songs they sometimes played in the office at the Pit. Immediately, 80s rock began blaring through the living room.
Eventually, he pushed himself back up off the sofa to go and check on the oven. Humming along to himself, he glanced inside, then nodded. It was still going well. Turning back towards the living room, he began singing along and when he crossed into the living room, he met the gaze of Blossom ahead of him, who was giving him a slight look as he sang. He cut off his singing for a moment to watch her in return, before smirking at her almost 'what are you doing?' expression, and then proceeded to go back to singing. Only this time, instead of quietly to himself, he burst out in song loudly and with an animated expression. There was an immediate fit of giggles ahead.
The next thing he knew, he was standing by the sofa, banging his head and shouting lyrics. Blossom was laughing and out of the corner of his eye, he saw some movement, but no figure. That would be Ghost. His smile grew, so much so that the edges of his smile hurt, but he was still singing. He could hear someone else moving towards the living room. And then the song ended. The next one started. His grin grew and he locked eyes with Blossom, head banging to the drums that were beginning, before bursting out, "Come on feel the noise! Girls rock your boys! We'll get wild, wild, wild…"
And he proceeded to continue singing, grinning wildly when she joined him in dancing in the middle of the room, continuing on until one by one, they all were circled together singing as loudly as they could.
