Eliot had taken to sleeping on the edge of the bed, at the very top of one of the pillows, so in order to not accidentally be caught underneath either his wife or fiancee mid sleep. He'd been pressed against the warm, furry wall of Kylo's body throughout that specific night and it was only when the sun had finally rose that he was disturbed from his sleep. The sudden burst of growth made it so he was far too close to the edge and promptly fell off the side of the bed, hitting the floor with a thud. There was a wince and he clamored to stand, hands pressing against his hip and he ducked in a breath. He turned to look at the bed, seeing Kylo had once again turned human with the rise of the sun, but did not spot Fen. He sighed heavily and reached out to brush some of Kylo's hair out of his face, before retreating to find an actual set of clothes not constructed for an action figure. Before heading down stairs, he made his way into the bedrooms of both his doppleganger and Margo. Seeing no visible change, he lowered his head and brought a hand up to rub his brows with frustration. Each day that passed brought another wave of anxiety about this and though he was giving an air of a good natured attempt to take this all in strides, his worry was present and real. He made his way downstairs for the kitchen, suddenly feeling ravenous, and spotted Fen aa he descended the stairs. He remained quiet, finger tips dragging along the doorway as he moved, before coming up behind her. He collected the hair that hung down against her neck, brushed it to the side and leaned in to press his lips to the now exposed skin. Fen has expected the person behind her to be Ren. When she turned around to offer him a tired smile, her expression changed instantly when she saw— “Eliot!” Her arms went around him and she held him tightly. Rising on her toes, she gave him a kiss. And then reaching up to comb her fingers through his hair, embraced him once more. “You’re you again. Are you alright? Everything is okay with you now?” There was a half smile at the proclamation of his name. His arms encircled around her easily to return the embrace and he leaned down to meet the kiss when she raised up. He gave a soft look as she pushed his hair back before resting his hands on either side of her hips. "A bit of a rude awakening this morning but it's fine," he commented. "As far as I can tell, everything seems back to normal." “Oh thank goodness,” Fen exclaimed before embracing him tightly. Despite everything she’d gone through, and spending more time regularly on two different versions of Earth with all their cynical inhabitants, she was still the kind of person to say things like thank goodness. She still believed goodness existed. “We just have to wait it out,” Fen said. “And everyone else will be back to normal, too.” There was a kiss pressed to the crown of her head when she embraced him again, before he lifted his gaze upwards to the ceiling. Directly above them was the main floor but there was two others above, where the others were still left in either their endless slumber or simply still sleeping off the transformation from the night before. "If that could hurry right along, that would be great," he mused, know she likely felt the same. He glanced back down to her. "How are you?" He asked, lifting a hand to stroke her cheek with the back of his knuckle. He had obligations to the school, and had been taking up Margo's work until she could return, so he hadn't been engrossed in taking care of everyone else like Fen had. He had a feeling it was more than a bit taxing. Fen nodded, her eyes just a little too wide as she forced a smile, like she had so many times earlier in their marriage when she tried to please him. She was happy, in general, and this was a little rough, but why should her exhaustion get in the way of that? From toiling away at the forge, to the ball itself, to the aftermath of curses and doing her best to pick up the slack while everyone else was affected and still trying to find time at the forge for herself between taking care of those under the sleeping curse and hanging on every word of Dr. Chakrabarti like a god because she didn’t know what else to do. “Margo and Eliot are going to wake up. Ren will stop being a cat. You’re here now. All of you, at your proper height, I mean. I’m fine. Everything will be fine.” "They are, he will, and I am." His eyes didn't pull their gaze from her as he agreed to all those statements, but his hand did drop to their sides, reaching forward to let his fingers take hold of her hand. "You do know it is fine if you aren't?" He suspected Fray wasn't fine. He was observant of her lingering emotions from the whole ordeal, even if she hadn't come out and directly said anything specific to him. He assumed Fen was putting on a enduring face. To emphasize his point, he gave her hand a squeeze. "Even if you are, I can help more now," he added, eyes moving briefly past her towards the counter. “Of course,” Fen said. She didn’t want him to think she doubted him. She didn’t. She could be a rock. A rock for this family, their household, the High King of Fillory who was also living with them, and even the strange little cat king that came in and slept next to Margo at night. Fen would be strong for all of them. "Mm," he vocalized in response to her, but it didn't sound like there was disbelief hidden under the sound. It was simply recognition. Still holding her hand, he brought his gaze away from the assortment of ingredients on the counter, to look back to her. "If that is the case…" he began, thumb running along the backside of her hand in gentle patterns, "...we still have time to go from fine to great." His emphasized this suggestion with a bit of a smirk his free hand moved, arm wrapping around her, to pull her close to him again. Fen peeked around to make sure no one was within earshot before looking back at her husband. She’d missed his big, strong … hands and his solid, enormous … determination to make her very happy. “Yes,” she said, nodding her head this time with a different kind of eagerness. |
