We're all in the same boat? Fair warning, I kinda suck at being the welcome committee.
I don't know you or the world you came from, but since you're new, I thought I would try my best to give you a rundown of the situation. Please feel free to ask me any questions.
1. You've traveled to another dimension. Previously we were all stuck on a cruise ship with one another that travelled to other worlds. Now we're in a small city/town in Texas called Tumbleweed. The important thing to know is the situation can change with little warning but people tend to help one another out here.
2. There's maybe 300 of us, all in the same situation. Some of us have been here for over a year, I just arrived a few weeks two months ago. New people arrive regularly, but also disappear, too.
3. As for Tumbleweed, we're not all entirely clear what the financial situation is. You should have paperwork to get you started so you can find a job with the locals or ask around and find a job with the other displaced. The network is a good place to, well, network.
4. If you've arrived here, chances are good people you know may be already here. If not, chances are good they might start showing up. I don't know if that will be a comfort to you or not.
5. The chances are also good you might recognize people on the ship as fictional characters from movies or books. The two big ones people seem to universally know are Star Wars and Harry Potter. Try to be kind if you recognize anyone or know the material they were represented in. They are people, and even the ones that seem bad from the stories are actually pretty cool if you give them a chance.
6. That brings me to number six five. Chances are also high that, to someone else, you're a part of a story they're familiar with. It's incredibly uncomfortable, just know you aren't alone in that situation. We try to avoid watching or reading each others stories out of respect.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.
