I don't think anyone has suggested it, but we had the military and a good deal of us working with them. From what I could glean, they were legitimately trying to help us, but they also asked people to keep their powers on the downlow. We don't exactly want to announce our presence and have the world turn an eye to us.
We haven't had any real disputes. There was a time when Wanda Maximoff, from our universe, lost her brother and destroyed the center of town. The rest of us all stepped in to assist, but it got us on the news so the military began a crackdown on powers. Warnings, that kind of thing. Then we went back in town and when we came back, it was like nothing had happened to warrant it and the town was twice the size it was before. Aside from that, we have been free to do as we please.
One of the Displaced ran for Town Council last year, and has been staffed in City Hall. Her name is Snow White. She has a few Displaced as her assistants. Her group is not as large as the Fillorians, the Avengers, the Wizard World, or several other factions, but she was also the Chancellor's assistant in Mount Weather before. I believe she keeps an eye out for anything.
There were a few people who consulted with the military back in the 1950s when we arrived to negotiate our presence at the time. I'm not sure if that negotiation changed what happened in the future. That's something I could look into when I get back. I get more access the more they trust me, but I get my information in other ways too. When we get back to Tumbleweed, a council is something I think should be discussed.
