The quiet Laurel gave her for a few minutes made Sara worry more. But then she heard those words. Ray, Snart, or Mick had told her sister what her fate was back home. The younger Lance closed her eyes and let the carefully constructed mask that had hid some of her emotions from her sister fall away. When her eyes next opened they were filled with sorrow, regret, and failure to name a few.
"It's not something that's easy to say," Sara said quietly. "How do you tell your older sister that when she goes back home she's..." Her voice cracked a little and she looked down, quickly wiping a tear from her eye. Laurel deserved to know why Sara hadn't gone back in time now to save Laurel or kill Darhk.
"When Rip dropped us off months after he had taken us, I tried to find you. Dad, he was at the lair and told me." Sara clenched her hands. "When Rip came back I tried to get him to take me back to that night, so I could help you, save you. But he told me in the original timeline, where he hadn't recruited us, it wouldn't have just been you that died. Dad and I also would've..." Sara looked up at Laurel, remorse in her eyes. "So my next plan was to hunt Darhk down in the past and kill him before he could get his powers but to do that...it would have altered too many timelines, caused too many aberrations."
A tear slipped down her face. "I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to save you Laurel."
