Damnit. The point of coming to the bat had been to avoid her sister, and Sara had found her all the same. Laurel had to steel her nerves. She didn't accidentally say the wrong thing. It wasn't Sara's fault that she died, and Sara probably couldn't risk messing up the time stream to bring her back. Laurel couldn't be mad at her. At least, she could try her hardest not be. She was upset, yes, but she didn't want to cause a rift with her sister. Sara had her best intentions at heart, Laurel had to keep telling herself that.
Laurel was quite for a few minutes. She had to pick her words very carefully. She didn't want to start an argument. She was upset and hurt, but she didn't want to draw attention to herself in the middle of the bar.
"One of your time traveling friends told me something about myself at the ball," she said, taking a sip of her drink. "I wasn't quite ready to hear it, and I panicked a little bit."
