Dear David,
We were standing on the balcony at Summerland, watching the night sky. It was the first time you were clear-headed since you were a baby. It was just you and me. We still couldn't touch, but it felt like we were really rooted in time there. I had my gloves on just so I could hold your hand. The air at Summerland always smelled like it was untouched by anything else. You can't smell the carbon filtering of the city. The frogs and crickets near the lake were an unending cacophony of sound surrounding everything. It was peaceful, even when life wasn't.Crickets remind me of
I thought that maybe it was Division 3, but Clark was still there and we were hashing out that deal to work with them. So if it was, they were already breaking the deal by kidnapping you. I could hear you yelling, and if I had your powers, you would not have gotten away. Maybe I should have touched you when I saw the sphere. I knew there was something not right. It could have been one of Cary's things, but that's not our luck. If I had traded places with you, they would have taken me and not you.
I'm stuck here on another one of these cruises. There's no guarantee you'll ever show up, and if you do, you might not remember being here before. I do. I remember that week when our powers were off. We barely left the room, even though the whole ship was falling into a black hole. It didn't matter because we'd be stuck there together. We get lost together, remember?
So now I have no idea what's going on back home. I don't know if we'll find you, and I can't do a damn thing about it here. I'm stuck. I can't get back, and I know it's real because I traded with some random guy at the port. He was just some guy really drunk outside of a tavern. I grabbed some water and some bread and I sat there with him until we switched back. He was still drunk when I came back to myself so I left the water and bread and went back to the ship.
Where are you? Who took you?
