This wasn't so bad. I forgot what it was like to sleep under the stars without having to keep my guard up the entire time. Hunting without having to watch my back was a nice change of pace. I'm still waiting to wake up from this

I'm bringing back several edible plants for whenever this ship returns us all to Texas. I hope you don't mind me keeping them on the patio so they can get proper light. They won't take up too much space.

Of course I donโ€™t mind! Iโ€™ll make sure to water them if they look extra thirsty.

You don't have to do that, but I appreciate it if you do. I don't plan to leave the cabin much

Itโ€™s really no bother at all. What sort of plants are they exactly?

Tomato, carrots onion, green beans, and pepper plants. I'm hoping they'll be ready to plant when we get to Texas.

Um. Also. I donโ€™t know if you met our new roommate, Tyler? Heโ€™s my boyfriend, and heโ€™s currently not exactly alive? Heโ€™s not a Walker, I swear to you he isnโ€™t, but he is a ghost?

He was kil killed back in his hometown but got dumped here, in addition to having a ton of memories of the place where we met forced into his head so itโ€™s a work in progress.

Heโ€™s not like a โ€œboooooo Iโ€™m going to haunt youโ€ ghost. He canโ€™t eat, but sometimes he can touch things.

I understand that itโ€™s a lot to handle.

It's a strange feeling not having someone or something constantly hunting me down. In any case, I didn't sleep on the ground.

Why were you being hunted all the time? If you're comfortable answering.

[...] I came here right out of an arena where I was fighting to the death. And even before that, my world had a way of constantly making people look over their shoulders. So I know what you're talking about. I like to sleep in trees or at least on high ground whenever I'm outside.

There was an outbreak back in my world. Whenever people died they'd come back as Walkers. If we weren't being followed by Walkers, we were being hunted by truly evil people. One of the worst men I've ever met killed my father just before I was brought here.

I pitch my own tent if I have the materials, which I was able to find here. The stars are different from the ones back home.

I've heard about things like Walkers, but never see anything like them. I know a lot about truly evil people, though. [...] I'm sorry about your father.

The stars are different in each world, and so is what we have available. It's nice when camping is fairly easy and I don't have to manage my supplies too closely, although I usually do anyway out of habit.

A girl here called them something else, but it's a word I've never heard before. Thanks. He was a good man and he was taken too soon.

I know about rationing supplies. We had to learn to live on what we could find. All this food? It's wasteful.

Zombies? That's the only word I've heard that sounds like what you mean.

It is. I'm just hoping they have enough of a supply to keep it up for however long we're here, or at least to last us with rations later.

Yeah, that's what she called 'em.

This cruise has been going on about two months? I think everyone could do with learning how to ration.

I don't like the sound of those.

The people who were in Mt. Weather with me at least know how to ration. It's just not instinct for a lot of them. They went along with it but they spent a lot of time complaining about missing pizza and chocolate and other things.

As long as you know how to kill 'em you'd do fine. You kill the brain. But sometimes that means having to get right up next to one. You get used to it, even if you'd rather not.

Pizza. God, it's been so long since I had that.

Not everybody from a world shows up at once. People from mine weren't around for a long time when I first showed up, and then they came and went and came back.

A while back there was an outbreak of this virus that brought people back when they died, but they'd go after people and eat them. They weren't really alive anymore. Then there's the matter of people. Sometimes they'd go after others, take what they had, kill them.

That reminds me of an old ghost story my father would tell me, about the Nachzehrer. A person would come back from death and consume his own body and those of his family. Just a silly story used to frighten children. How terrible that it is a reality for you. From the sound of it, human society does not survive this virus?

I am not sure that it will help, but I was told when I arrived that even though I am here, I am also back where I was taken from. It does not seem logical, but nothing about this place does, truly. I arrived with a friend of mine, but our other friend joined us days later. It is possible that your family will also be sent here eventually.
