Lin honestly wished any of the conversations she would have hand would have eased her nerves at all. Unfortunately, none had, and the more talks she had, the more she found herself ill at ease about the whole situation they were now in, and realistically had been in for months at this point. When she’d first arrived at this place? All she wanted was back to Republic City, but then she could see why she was possibly needed in this place. Tumbleweed had a lot of issues, and it needed help solving those issues. It seemed like most people were content just to react to the weird happenings around them, that they didn’t want or need to figure out what was happening. Or, perhaps even more depressingly, they had given out trying to figure it all out due to the length of time they’d been stuck in this damn place to begin with. The Chief still wasn’t sure if this was the fault of the Spirit World or not, but it was clear that this place needed someone, anyone, to help the people that were stuck here. Even if she didn’t want to be here, even if she wanted to be back bending metal and earth and rock in order to fix Republic CIty and restore the place she loved to its former glory… Something was wrong here and there weren’t enough people trying to fix it. Lin wasn’t much of one for fate and destiny in many aspects, but she couldn’t help but feel like she’d been brought here for a reason, though that reason had yet to be revealed yet. Hopefully, it would be soon so she could stop spinning in her head with all of this with no release. A heavy breath was released as elbows came to rest against a railing. Fingers laced together as eyes scanned out over the horizon. There was too much water here and not nearly enough earth, not enough metal, not enough of the element she wanted and needed to be underneath her feet. At least Korra and Asami were here. It allowed for some of the tension to ease from her muscles and bones, but not enough. Was Korra brought here to help restore balance to this world too? Or had she been pulled her against her will as well? How was Republic City fairing without it’s Metal Bending Police Chief and without it Avatar? Worry lines creased her forehead as her mind lingered amongst the rubble that was likely left of their city, of their home… How would Tenzin be faring? Mako? Bolin? Opal? Hell, would Suyin be losing her mind right now with worry about where they all were? Or did none of this matter? Had the information that the military told them all just stories just to keep them calm and complacent? Just like her and Integra had talked about there were far too many questions without nearly enough answers for all of the things going on around them. Hopefully, her new alliance with Integra and their division of informational resources would help answer at least a few questions before too long. At least then she might be able to assure the safety of Asami and Korra, so that the couple of the people she loved would be protected. |
