So. I guess I ought to explain myself. Maybe some of you already know, or maybe you caught a glimpse of what I was doing when the ship was attacked. I'm not as helpless as you might've initially thought. The short of it, I lost my eyesight when I was nine when these toxic chemicals splashed into my face. Another side effect was that my other senses were heightened - my hearing, my taste, my smell, my sense of touch. I can get around without seeing, but I still can't distinguish details or colors, and I'm not able to tell what's written down on a page or screen.
I'm not used to telling everybody about this, and the whole idea made me nervous. Sorry for misleading everybody.
