Okay so... I know there's a group for vets. Or, just support for trauma but is there something around here for addicts? Support system wise?

It's... Honestly, it's never really been my thing. I had a different system at home. I had Tony and Jess friends that helped. But with what's likely to unravel, and what already has, the ease of access might be a problem for me.

You can keep it private, or come see me, 709. Carol Danvers.

I think there used to be.

Well, the past tense is a little deflating, but at least there were bones of it.

Oh, yeah. I'm sure that is exactly what happened.

That people may fuck off tomorrow pushes the one day at a time thing.

But there's tons of space on this boat, if that's your deal, just stake a room.

Yeah, and it's sometimes a bit of a tipping point.

It looks like that's how it's going to go, and work out some viable timings for people.

Sherlock and I would go to NA meetings in Tumbleweed. It'd be nice to have something like that here.

If I remember correctly, it's important to keep a routine with that. Falling out of it for however long we're sailing... It's probably not good.

Yeah, losing what's become something normal it's not great. You think it'd help? Having it here?

I think so. If you're willing to put it together, I'd go.

'Cause, yeah, the ease of access thing sucks.

It'd be easier in Tumbleweed I'm sure, but it's still important here.

Right? It's starting to get to me.

I mean, easier in just you don't gotta worry 'bout one of us setting it up. Some of the other worlds, we had it going too, but that can be a lot to put on a person too.

It was annoying as fuck before, but now it's getting to me. At least because in Texas I'd have to put some effort into getting some booze. The age limit here just messed that right up. Plus

Yeah, it's likely that something would've already been in place. Groups tend to pop up in most places.

Right. You'd need to go out, find something, make that choice. But here, there are bars everywhere. Obviously not really, but still. I could do without that some days.

Maybe we can at least set up a meeting time and shit. Get a room like the Vets' got or even just pick someone's living room. Or not... that'd get awkward fast if the person hosting ain't feeling good and y'just got a bunch of people hoverin' round waiting to be let in.

Totally bro. Add in a fake ID for me too back in Tumbleweed.

I'm Flash, by the way. I can't remember if we said hello before or not.

Yeah, I think that'd work. Maybe one of the public areas on the ship though, to avoid that whole crashing on a person. It'll be worth looking into.

It's helpful to have that, sure. But not so much for avoiding the drink.

Hi Flash. I'm Carol, obviously.

Yeah and it ain't like they got a million and one rooms here to use.

Nice to meet you. And if like the group thing doesn't get going, I don't know how good at help I can be, but if you need someone to suggest some other stupid thing to do instead of the whole drinking thing, I can definitely help with that.

Or that they're small. Even if we can't get an empty suite, the number of large spaces is ridiculous.

I'm always up for stupid things, distractions are good, too much time on my hands leads to trouble.

You looking to start a group? Or just a friend to say "Carol, no"?

Maybe a little of both if we're being honest.

[info]arrowoutlaw

Well, for starters, I'm Roy Harper and now that we know each others' names, guess that makes us friends. So... Carol, no.

However, Carol, yes, I'll support you in starting a group. Looks like a lot of folks need it.

[info]callmemarvel

Names usually signify the start of a friendship, it's true. So thank you Roy, that's very helpful.

I'm seeing that, yes. I'm kinda glad I'm not in that certain boat alone.

Glad to lend a helping hand.

I'll agree, it is comforting to know there are others. Usually I am crap at talking about this stuff but I know a guy that'd kick my ass if I didn't.

I'm not too good at it myself. I have friends at home who help things, but neither are here. I think something where we all know how to sort of deal with each other's battles could be helpful for us.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]arrowoutlaw
2018-01-30 07:45 am UTC (link)
Definitely. After all, we don't know where this ship is headed and the next port might make some tempting offers.

Personally, that's one of the hardest parts. The saying no. But, like you said, if we know each others' battles then maybe we can say no together. Stronger in numbers and all that.

[info]callmemarvel

It's entirely possible. Or further stressful situations. Who knows.

Yeah, that's the goal, right? I mean, I never did the structured support group thing, but I'm guessing that it's the point of them, supporting each other like that.

[info]arrowoutlaw
2018-01-30 01:35 pm UTC (link)
Exactly. Who knows.

I've done it a few times. Haven't really made a routine of it, as such. But yeah, that's the general idea of them.

From what I've heard, the last time people moved from Tumbleweed, it wasn't all ice cream and sunshine either.

Well then, we can probably navigate this just by what works, you need a friend to tell you no, you know where I am.

[info]arrowoutlaw

Okay, that sounds ominous.

Ditto, Carol. I'm in 805. I have my daughter with me but if you need to talk without her around, I know some people on board that are happy to take her for a while.

So, I'm surprisingly not great at organising things (unless the world is ending), but Jesse mentioned you we involved in something in Tumbleweed? So... input on setting it up is readily welcome.

Well, the main issue is probably going to be working out availability. I can't see finding a place being that difficult here, but making sure there's a time everyone can work around might be the issue.

This is true. Try not overlap with any of the interesting activities on the ship. Like the karaoke night.
