What sort of things does 'Santa Claus' normally bring as gifts? I have no idea what to ask for. I'm open to suggestions.

Coal for you.

Coal might be useful if it actually gets cold here.

That's what I thought too.

This heat does make me doubt that, though. Perhaps I should ask for something cold.

Who would have thought we would have come to miss the cold.

I'm sure it'll grow colder soon enough. From what I hear, it's not normally this hot in the winter.

And then we can complain about the cold!

Technology, games, toys, clothes, if you want to believe commercials puppies.

Puppies seem like a dangerous proposition.

Possibly, but if they have a comfortable dog bed and breathing holes, it seems possible. Plus, then you'd have a dog.

It's the 'having a dog' part that seems dangerous. The last time fuzzy pets showed up at our door, we were advised to keep them locked up for our safety.

Dogs are wonderful wonderful animals and not gremlins. We had a pet dog back on earth in our universe, and people have them here. With no problem. Well no unusual problems.

Nevertheless, I think I should not let some mysterious, unknown figure choose the sort of pet I would have in the house. If I were to have one.

Traditionally Santa is usually a role taken on by parents. Here though, who knows. I am hoping it's the portal. Everything I asked for is from my home universe.

Interesting. I hadn't thought about asking for something from home. I may try that.

I figured anything in this place we can figure out somehow how to get ourselves. But if something's in another universe... well, maybe I'm wrong and I'll get nothing, but I'd rather take the chance.

You might be right. There's not much at home for me to ask for. But [...] that did give me some ideas, so thank you, I appreciate it.

I suppose nothing would stop you from asking for things from someone else's home. If it's something you want. And hey, glad to help!

That seems a bit like stealing. But I don't think there's anything in particular I want in that category, anyway.

I don't know that it's stealing. Or not any more stealing than something that didn't already belong to you in your universe.

I suppose that's true enough. The latter part, at least.

It also might not take anything from them, just duplicate it. We ourselves are not missing from our universes.

A lot of asking for things from Santa Claus is helped along by the children's parents.

Are these Santa letters only meant for kids? We received them for everyone in our household, and none of us are children.

Most of the time they are, but there's nothing wrong with a grown up sending one.

And I suppose if my parents were here they could help me with it, but alas.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

Usually, people ask for something they truly need or would enjoy, but might not be able to get for themselves.

[info]otkazatsya

There aren't many things I need. But that's a useful suggestion, thank you.

Then I'd say take the opportunity to indulge yourself, or if you can't think of anything you'd particularly like to have, ask for something for a friend.

I've got a few ideas now, but not all three. So I may end up asking for something for someone else.

Did you finish your own list already?

I did, and lists for my children. I'm not sure it was all that smart to let my daughter ask for a ferret, but we'll see what happens.
