who zelda & bellamy
what picking her up from quarantine
when day of her release obvs
where military base
warnings nada, just bellamy in big brother mode!

It was not the first time Zelda had been put in a room, under guard. The only difference was that there were no windows here, so she could not judge time nor see if her fears of the people being turned to spirits were true or not. She had less of those ever since she’d spoken with people over the odd device, but they still lingered.

One mistake had cost her plenty, and that was beyond the fear that Ganondorf or Zant were responsible for this.

Yet, before long the guards opened her door and she was let out. She offered them a warm smile of thanks, and had them lead her to the doors. There, she was given her sword back, which had been given a hilt it seemed, and then she was let out into the bright open world. She winced to the glare of the sun, holding up one hand to lessen it before listening. Noise. Of people. She let out a breath, relaxing just a hint before straightening. When she looked around she could see a figure, and had a hope this was the person who she’d spoken to before. It was a relief to know she had friends already in this strange and very different place.

She took the hilted sword with both hands and moved forward, approaching the man. She smiled and dipped into a curtsy, as familiar to her as breathing, “Bellamy, I pray?” She rose and tilted her head. Her new friend had offered a promise, so she was hopeful. “Thank you again, for meeting me. I owe you more thanks than I have words for.” This much was true. She did not know where she was. Not Hyrule, that much was clear. She’d have to find a way to repay this kindness.
---

One thing Bellamy had taken out of his bond with Clarke was offering a helping hand to those in need. It hadn’t always been in his nature. Previously, his whole focus had been solely on protecting Octavia. Then, it had shifted to protecting their people at any cost. Much had been lost in his blind quest to do the right thing, but he had learned. He had grown. Now, he only hoped he could make the same difference.

When he’d been released, he found his designated home. It reflected the room in Arkadia rather than on the Ark, which was something of a relief. It also housed the jeep he thought would have been lost in the radiation storm, but this place was proving itself full of surprises. He had merely nodded a faint semblance of appreciation for having a solar powered vehicle at his disposal in this strange, new world.

Timing her release, Bellamy finally turned on the car and finally smiled when it kicked on without any effort. Grateful for his own sense of direction from living on the ground, he found his way back to the base easily. Just in time, by the looks of it, Bellamy hopped out of the car just as the doors had opened.

Once she had reached him, his smile emerged. She sure was formal. This was how he had imagined the goddesses in the myths to sound, not that he meant to prop her up on a pedestal, but it was a unique trait. The last member of royalty he’d met hadn’t exactly exuded any sense of royal graces.

“That’s me,” he greeted with a nod. “You don’t owe me a thing, highness. I mean that. We’re all on the ground here, we gotta look out for one another.” With that he gestured with another nod in the passenger’s direction, silently requesting that she followed him. “Ready to get out of here?”
---

“Zelda,” she offered honestly and warmly. She’d been raised to know titles were formal things, meant to be used with respect but also that there were times a title meant nothing along with if she made her title all she was, then she hadn’t really earned it. Being a Princess, or Queen, was more then being called that. And he wasn’t from her land, so she had no right to demand anything of him. “Were this Hyrule, the title would be apt. But,” she sighed and looked around, “it very much is not.”

She gave a look to the thing he motioned to and then back to her new friend. “What is this?” She knew she sounded hesitant, almost fearful, but she had no concept of what the object was. Obviously a mode of transportation, considering the amount of them on the road and nearby, but beyond that it looked almost dangerous.

And her feeling of trepidation wasn’t helped by the fact that Naryu was quiet. Ever since the Triforce of Wisdom had awoken, she’d been flooded with knowledge, sometimes too much of it, she’d otherwise never know. She’d always read of how to pray to the spirits, but she hadn’t ever known how to truly plead with them or ask them for their aid until the Triforce had told her. She’d known, without ever reading it, about things in her land. But Naryu was tied to Hyrule. In this strange land, even Wisdom had nothing to offer. She would learn with time but right now she felt clueless.

So she frowned and went to gently touch the side of the car. For whatever it was worth, the thing didn’t seem to be something that would lash out. “I must ask for patience I fear.” she dropped her hand and turned to Bellamy. He didn’t seem worried, which was something. “I do not know anything of this place. We travel by horse where I am from. Might I ask where I am to go?” She doubted her castle would be there to greet her.
---
What might the jeep look like to her? Bellamy had books and drawings of Earth, though the ground had still been something of a mystery to him when on the Ark. Earth was still, dimensions aside, familiar to him. Machinations, names, history, he could readily process it because it had a place in his own personal narrative.

For Zelda, it wasn’t quite the case, was it?

That was why he took her trepidation with the utmost patience and a kindness he typically lacked. A fish out of water, though apt, didn’t mean she had to be treated as such. She had a hell of a lot to learn, and he’d help her as best he could. No one had been on the ground to do the same for the one hundred teens that fell out of the sky. They’d been shot at and imprisoned. Luckily, that wasn’t remotely on the table this time around.

“You don’t have to ask for anything,” Bellamy assured. “This is a different world. You’re allowed to ask questions. If anyone isn’t patient with you, they’re a dick.”

Opening the passenger door for her, he nodded at the seat. “Hop in, I’ll explain. For starters? This is a vehicle, how we get around. Faster than a horse, some might say even better. As for where to go, they give you any kind of address before you left?”
---

Her first order of business would be to find if there was a library here, and start learning. She had the advantage of picking up things quickly, being tied to a force that soaked up knowledge like a sponge. But Bellamy’s words were kind. She took comfort from it. “I will still endeavor to learn.”

She glanced to the seat before nodding. It was a bit of a trick to manage it with her gown and sword, which brought to mind she would have to exchange it for something a lot less formal. Something simple and durable, probably. She could leave her gown for when it was needed.

Once she was settled she set the sword down. She set one hand to her temple, and decided that she’d remove her tiara when she had a mirror. It was tied to her hairstyle, and in this place there was no need to go around with it. She nodded then and went through her pockets. Her gown had several, all well hidden. “Yes,” she pulled out the little note, “although I do not know where this is. How does this vehicle work?” Horses, even carriages, were simple things. She knew how to ride but this was completely different. To her, there seemed to be no direct thing that would make this work. “Is it magic that drives this?”
----
“No harm in that,” he assured. Still new to this undamaged by radiation version of Earth meant he had a lot to catch up on, too. The technology itself wasn’t terribly foreign to him in the slightest, but the history had diverged dramatically. There was a hell of a lot more readily available to him to consume now, too.

After assisting her into the vehicle, Bellamy circled around to the driver’s seat. Leaning over to look at the address, he squinted at it as he tried to work out where that was located. Learning the lay of the land came easily to him, but that was a land that had no roads. Markers were trees and unusual bushes, aged footprints or a specific view of mountains. They hadn’t been addresses, but coordinates.

At least the town had a decent map for him to learn.

“I can find that,” he assured. Just as he stuck the key in the ignition, her question gave him pause. With an understanding chuckle, he withdrew the key to give Zelda a better look at it. “This turns it on, starts a combustion in the engine. Power gets drawn from the sun, makes this go. All I have to do? Is steer. Like this.”

Without any further preamble, he started it up and turned the wheel with just a tiny bit of flare to pull the vehicle out onto the road. And, they were off.

“Not the smoothest ride, and it doesn’t beat a horse. Some of these vehicles here can and do though. What do you think so far?”
---
The noise startled her, and it showed. It was louder than anything she’d ever known, and out of instinct her hand fell onto the dashboard to hold onto it. Having it explained to her helped, oddly enough. The Triforce influenced her, and the others. If Link was here, she guessed that he’d want to drive it, facing his fears with courage. Ganondorf...well it was easy there. This was power and he’d want it. In her case, Wisdom sought to understand and getting the information was easing her fears. Briefly, the piece of the Triforce on her hand glowed and she nodded to the explanations.

“It is very loud,” she offered honestly and straightened. “And somewhat frightening.” The drive to know more remained and it was as good as anything to distract her from everything. Nothing in this world was familiar, and it made her uneasy. Learning would help her. “Why is it different from the others? If it draws power from the sun, would light magic help or harm it?” It helped distract her really. All in all, she much preferred horses. They were familiar to her, but in this new world she would have to learn about this new mode of transportation. “Could one learn about driving these things?” Walking everywhere would, in time, become tedious. And there would be places she could not go strictly on foot. Nor could she keep hiding in her new accommodations.

The thought alone made her skin crawl. She’d spent so long locked in her tower that even the thought of being stuck in one room for too long wasn’t one she welcomed.
---
"It's a little more complicated than that," Bellamy responded, mouth all a grin. It was endearing how many questions she had. Most of them he could manage. Whatever she might have left in her arsenal of inquiries, he sat at the ready with the best replies he could muster. Patient as a stone, he found it refreshing to have the answers for once. It hadn't always been this easy on the ground.

Armed with the address, he took his time getting her to the place that would become her home in Tumbleweed, however temporary that would (or wouldn't) prove to be. As long as she was around, she had Bellamy in her pocket to call upon for help. It took a whole hell of a lot to get his loyalty to be swayed otherwise, and he sincerely doubted she would ever put it to the test.

In the absence of Raven and the others, his own sister, and the loss of Clarke--it was nice to have something new and seemingly stable in his life.
