OOC / IC - Auditions for the Christmas Carol!

AUDITIONS!

The auditions aren't until Saturday, November 11th, but I'm posting this today to give players amble chance to see and respond.

Auditions are held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Tumbleweed Community Theater. The actual auditions will be held upon the theater's stage, with people waiting their turn in the seats of the auditorium. Audition forms are found on a table just before you walk through the door to the auditorium, along with photocopied sections of the script, and sharpened pencils. As people come in to audition, Kitty takes a digital photo of them for future reference and they are assigned a number, which goes at the top of their audition form. A table in the back of the auditorium room has snacks (there are green grapes and bottled water along with the cookies, hot water for tea, and coffee) - please try not to spill anything.

The director, Kurt Wagner, will be sitting in the front row with a table set in front of him. Kurt will call your character's name, and they'll be asked to come on stage for their audition. In the announcement, people were asked to bring their own monologue to read - Kurt begins each audition by asking each participant to read their selected piece. Then they are asked to read for the part they want to audition for from the photocopy. When reading group scenes, Kurt or Kitty will either read for the other part, or else Kurt will ask for another auditioner to read. If a person or people auditioning are promising, Kurt will pull out the full script and have them read specific scenes to see how well they work together. Kurt often leans over to Kitty or other members of his production team to ask for her opinion, jotting down notes on paper.

Characters who are interested only in the production side of the play are also encouraged to come - Kurt will ask those who he's chosen to help with the production team (set designer, choreographer, music director, etc) to come sit with him in front. After the audition, Kurt takes the whole production crew to JJ's Diner where they can discuss aspects of the production and make arrangements to meet again for more in-depth discussion.

Please fill out this audition sheet and post it here, along with any questions or comments or interactions between characters that you may have.

The roles will be assigned and announced by the Wednesday, November 15th, so please respond as quickly as possible so casting decisions may be made by then.

Name:
Hope Summers

Role preferred: Any

If not cast for your desired role, will you accept a different one?:

If cast in a smaller role, you may be required to play multiple parts - is this alright?: Yes

If not cast, would you be interested in working on the production team?: Yes

If yes, which area of the production team would you be interested in?: Props or costumes

Acting Experience: None

Dancing Experience: None

Out of Character

Fandom:
Marvel 616

How does their audition go?: Hope would be a little stiff in the beginning, but she's been practicing for the past few days and is determined to do well, so eventually she'd show some promise. She probably did better than she or anyone else thought she would, since she hasn't expressed an interest in this before. She read this monologue.

How does their audition go?: Anya is a chatterbox which is probably to her detriment. Asking too many questions.

If yes, which area of the production team would you be interested in?: Costumes

How does their audition go?: Eliot is confident with auditions so he wouldn't have been nervous. He has a flair of the dramatic in general so he usually lights up on the stage. He's doing this for fun so he doesn't necessarily care which role he gets. He came with a monologue from The Importance of Being Earnest, probably one of Algernon's.

If cast in a smaller role, you may be required to play multiple parts - is this alright?: yes

If not cast, would you be interested in working on the production team?: sure

If yes, which area of the production team would you be interested in?: Props/Costumes/Construction would be his best bet since he's got magic to help with that

Acting Experience: He's been in 3 plays in game, twice with leading roles.

Dancing Experience: Pirates of Penzance had dancing. I don't think his other roles did. He's had some previous partner-dancing experience but is still relatively new to this kind of choreography. He has a lot of energy for practicing, though, so he can get it.

Out of Character

Fandom:
Harry Potter

How does their audition go?: James is not nervous at all. He is not a polished performer, but he LOVES the stage, has a natural flair for the dramatic, and now has enough experience under his belt to think through what the character is actually feeling and trying to portray it accurately instead of just the way he thinks is funny. He's still pretty over the top, though - especially if he read for Scrooge and had to yell HUMBUG! He would have done it as angrily as possible and then cracked up right afterward.

He's a still bit of a ham because he's Mordecai, but not nearly as much as might be expected from him. He'll be better with a small comedic role, both in style and for logistical reasons.

In addition, he'll be paying close attention to the others, how they move and so on.
