(019) Credence Barebone
I don't have any room to talk bu I didn't like the creatures, but I do feel a bit sorry for them. The way they change so radically and without seemingly any control over it. It would make for a very disconcerting existence.

On another note I realized that I have been here nearly a year. I suppose that is a good thing.

It does seem sad. I didn't get to have one, but I still feel bad for them.

I suspect Newt would have liked them. I sometimes have a difficult time warming up to creatures or they to me

Newt?

I take to animals easily. Hagrid saw to that.

Newt Scamander. He was here for a while and I met him, briefly, back when I was in New York. I knew him better here though.

Luna speaks of Hagrid often.

I think I read about him in one of my school books! He took care of animals, right?

You're friends with Luna? And Hagrid is the kindest, most loving person I've ever met.

He likes animals a good deal, yes. He had so many different types of creatures that I was able to meet.

I - yes. I think we would be friends. I think she would consider me a friend. We are housemates, anyway. I don't know much about him, but you are good friends with him?

So you're from the... 1920s?

Luna's friendship is a little strange like that. She's my friend but it took her awhile to figure that out.

Hagrid was my first friend and the first person to tell me I'm a wizard.

Yes. It's a lot different here in this time. It's a lot different in general.

She's been very accepting and I know I'm not

It must have been nice to have someone who told you that who was a friend.

That must be rough, mate.

She's very accepting. Wonderful person. I adore her. Apparently I name one of my children after her.

It was nice for someone to tell me anything. My mum's family didn't tell me.

It's better. I've been here for a while. There are good things about here. Knowing other people who do magic is one of those.

Did they not like magic?

So you're a wizard as well?

They did not. They were Muggles and wanted nothing to do with it.

I - yes. I'm just learning magic though. Charlie and Emmeline and Albus have been teaching me a bit.

I'll ask Albus, but I feel like everyone teaches me something different, and a little new. It might be good.

Thanks.

I taught some other students Defense against the Dark Arts when our teacher wouldn't. It was very popular but we got into some trouble.

Talk to Albus, he knows you better.

I understand that.

What's the school in the US called? Do you know?

You've got some good teachers, you'll be doing magic in no time.

Um, Newt said but I forget. I didn't go there either.

But I'm doing more magic now. It's not perfect, but it's better.

A very fair assessment of the plight of the Mogwai. Fear of the creature they have the potential to become is no excuse for the treatment they received at the hands of many of the people here.

Yes, fear and cruelty often go hand in hand. I do hope you're speaking of observation only, not as the recipient of such conduct.

That's unfortunate. But I'm pleased to hear such a positive report of our neighbors. I'm still getting acquainted with many of the residents here. I'm River, by the way. We've not met, I don't think.

Not especially long, no. I arrived about a month ago from a place about as far removed from here as one can get. Charmed, Credence.

For all intents and purposes, yes. Though in fact, it was a planet-sized humanoid head floating at the edge of space. It was a rather shocking location, even for me. I'm remarkably well-traveled in my own universe.

[info]spoilers_
2017-11-18 04:48 am UTC (link)
I'm aware that it sounds made up, but I assure you, it's the truth. A giant head floating at the end of space. It's apparently the remains of some kind of ancient, all-powerful species, but it's mostly a mining town, filled with all the vice and violence that comes with it.

[info]obscurence

I guess being here - there's not much that should surprise me.

So is it more a skull than a head then?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]spoilers_
2017-11-19 03:57 am UTC (link)
I would describe it as a desiccated head rather than a skull. I said mining, but it was really more like harvesting. The materials being extracted were biological: tissue, bone, that sort of thing.

Not at all. It can just sneak up and take you by surprise sometimes.

[Credence]
Which is ok, y'know. Not missing it a lot. Especially with all you got going here.

And it stinks. The whole gremlin thing.

Luna and I were at the bonfire, but we left quickly. They seemed cute, but that went away.

I don't have any right to judge really, but I did not like them.
