They're like family. They're dad and my dad were buddies. My dad is a regular guy-- a Muggle, who can do magic, and their dad was really interested in televisions and cars and stuff, so they had a lot to talk about. Left me and Charlie to play in the garden a lot.

They're magic, too. You're magic, aren't you? Or do you not call it that?

We don't call it that. It's a little different. I can only do one thing, control fire. Others like me can do their own thing. We're called Mutants.

Yeah, I think that was the point. Sometimes people call us 'gifted', but non-mutants kind of like to make us sound like garbage.

Yeah. Just a few, kinda. There's a couple people from where I'm from who aren't the same as where I'm from, y'know?

It is what it is. Our genes mutated different from theirs, gave us powers, they kinda hate us for it.

I've heard of that from others. Like, they know the name but not the face, or the story.

Where I come from, there are witches and wizards who hate people who are "normal." We call them Muggles to differentiate but these people HATE Muggles. They believe if you have Muggle blood in your family, you're dirty or not worthy.

So it's kind of the opposite where I'm from?

I'm sorry, that must be weird. There's someone here who's the son of a kid I knew. A KID! I haven't got to talk to him but I passed by him at a birthday party.

My mum was part of a family who was very pure blood and she married a Muggleborn and got thrown out of the family.

I'm sorry that they don't respect you. It appears we can't win either way.

My cousin stood up to his family and left them behind when he was old enough. He's a real cool guy. Sirius Black? If you meet him, you'll be in awe of his coolness.
