I've never been happier for a weekend. School work is [...] well, it's different than what I'm used to. I really need to work on my automail this weekend, now that I have time. I feel awful letting it sit. I don't want to let Ed down.

Al, I hope you enjoyed your pie.

Mr Xavier, I've left several pies for the mansion in the kitchen. And I cleaned up after myself as promised.

Of course I enjoyed my pie!! It was so nice to finally have it and not feel sick for trying to eat that much sugar!!!

THANK YOU! You're the bestest friend a person can have!

You're welcome, Al. It's nice to know I've always got you to enjoy my baking.

Maybe you can teach me how to cook sometime? I think it'd be a good skill and I couldn't really do it before.

I'm good at baking. Cooking other things, not so much. But I can absolutely show you how to bake!

Ooo! Maybe I should learn to cook other stuff then together we can be the best cooking duo ever?

You can take home economics with me. There should be some cooking involved.

I'm not sure if I can take another class right now. Maybe in January, apparently we change classes then.

I don't want to change classes.

It's the classes that are more for 'fun' I think? Though, Math is really fun! But my art class is one that I can take another one or change to something else?

It's a little confusing. I like being able to take more classes though! I want to learn everything!

I'm signed up for Home Economics, Anatomy & Physiology, Astronomy, Computer Science. Personally I think they're fun, but are they ones I'd have to change later?

Those are fun ones! I'm not sure? Probably Home Economics? That sounds like my Art class. Though maybe for some of the others we'd go into the next level of the class when it changed? I know I can take Art again as a different more difficult class, which I plan to do!

I am enjoying learning how to draw for fun.

I guess I'll have to find out for sure. I don't want to take too many classes because it'll interfere with my automail.

I'm glad. Everything I draw is automail sketches...

You definitely want to make sure you're not taking too much. I keep reminding myself that this opportunity won't vanish instantly and to not try to take too much! I want to learn everything while we can.

Your sketches are incredible. When we start drawing body parts, I might need your help!

I know you do, Al. You have time to learn it all.

Mind you, my sketches are automail mirrors of limbs. If I ever sketched an actual limb it might look wonky.

We both have time, right?

Ah. I hadn't thought about it like that. I guess we'll learn in anatomy and physiology more about the body's structures so we'd be better at that?

Absolutely, we do.

It just takes time and practice. How'd you think I got so good with my sketches?

Automated armored prosthetics that connect directly to the central nervous system. They're used exactly as a biological limb.

Something of yours or something for someone else? If you find you're short in tools, I've got my maintenance kit for my prosthetic arm.

It's for a friend. I expect him to damage it so I'm making something ahead of time. Oh, thank you, I appreciate that. I have almost all of my tools here, thankfully. I mostly work in my room. So you have an arm like my automail? What do you call it?

Good friend, huh? Some people call them cybernetics, others prosthetics. This particular kind is sometimes called a mechno-arm. Mine is highly customized, though.

There used to be a businessman here who let me have some lab space to work for him on improving the prosthetics available in this world, but he disappeared.

Boyfriend. I've been making his automail since we were eleven. It's always custom made. No two automail are ever the same. I did the same back home for various clients. I ran a shop and everything, but... well, I'm here now. I've heard the term cybernetics since I arrived. It's amazing there are so many worlds that have them.

Oh. Well, I would have liked to have met him.

They don't have much here in the way of prosthetics actually connected to nerves. They're mostly just detachable pieces, and since they aren't integrated, there's no sensation for them. You might have to get creative with your parts here.

He made an impressive arm for someone else here.

Noted. I make mine from scratch. As long as I have the materials I need it can work out. It takes a lot of time to get them just right, and they have to fit exactly. Ed gets really loud when I connect his leg. I should start sedating him

I love seeing other people's work.

How often are you having to do that? Is it not permanent or do you keep replacing it?

[info]automailist

Too often It's meant to be permanent, but Ed has a terrible habit of destroying my precious automail.

He shouldn't be treating it like it's disposable and replaceable, even though it IS replaceable. And the pain of having a limb destroyed...

I'm not dismissing his actions, but it's not like he goes looking for ways of destroying it. It sure as hell pisses me off, but his enemies are the ones to blame. Ed's just trying to save the world. My work just gets the grunt of the blow.

Oh, so it's not intentional. But is he being reckless or do they keep targeting it? Or just really bad luck, I guess.
