PETUNIA DURSLEY

So, you aren't a lego or a child are you? Have you stayed away from the Fun House?

I am both a lego and a child, actually.

Okay. I'm not either, but two of my housemates are children. Another is just sort of lying despondent on the couch.

How intriguing. You are a rarity I believe.

Is it ever calm there?

So I've been told.

No. Not really. And Quentin usually does this. More often than he has since he first arrived. I'm a little concerned. But now with Eliot being a child, I think it's worse somehow.

I feel like Wendy with the Lost Boys.

It's a shame you are a child at the present. I was going to see if you'd like to join me for dinner.

Ah. I suppose there is something to be said of a little excitement in life. After all, that's what I expect when I'm in the company of James and Sirius. [...] Eliot is the tall one, is he not? With the fashionable vests? Hangs with the one who only wears black? And Quentin usually looks drab? Have I gotten this right?

That seems a very approriate analogy.

That is a terrible shame because I would have said yes.

I can't speak for James, but I know what it's like living with Sirius. Yes. That is the one. Yes. That's Kylo. Yes. We've tried to help him, but he doesn't want to be helped. With clothes, I mean. Then there's Margo and Pansy.

I'm not sure they'd let me tell them stories at night, though. You were

I suppose you could still come with me. After all, children still need dinner. You just won't be able to enjoy the wine selection like I intended.

James is quite like Sirius. Sirius is just a fraction more intense than James but only a fraction. That's a great deal of people.

Likely not.

You have a point. No. It would be ill-advised to give children wine. Especially lego children.

Sounds about right. I wish I'd been different when I met James, but I guess I'm different now. We are quite the house. Cottage. There's also Millicent, but she's a cat.

I guess I'll have to settle for making them food and making myself available if they have problems or need someone to talk to.

I've been told that legos don't have real mouths. Your dinner might not be able to be enjoyed at all.

You're different now and that's the important thing, I believe. That is a peculiar name for a cat. She sounds like an old woman.

Do you enjoy doing that for them?

At least I'll be socialising.

Sometimes I'm not sure, but I suppose it's true. She's Kylo's cat. I guess he likes the name. I don't mind it. Even if it does sound like an old woman.

I like feeling needed. Which probably sounds particularly sad. They took me in, though, when I didn't have a line of people willing to do the same and I'm grateful to them for it. I don't really know what to do with myself without the boys. I guess it helps.

The company will be appreciated.

Oh, I don't mind it. I've just not heard many cats with names that evoke images of elderly women.

I wouldn't call it sad. I can't imagine how difficult it is to go from being needed frequently to this present situation. So, I won't ever call it sad. [...] I am very sorry for how I acted upon your initial arrival, Petunia. I really am.

Then I will be happy to give it.

One day you will and her name will be Millicent.

It's awful. I don't suggest becoming overly familiar with it. Not that it can be helped. [...] Everyone makes mistakes. I can't exactly blame you for it. You only knew me as who I was, not who I am. I'm just glad you came round.
