I'm alright with that, honestly.

Anyone who isn't is crazy, that time was a shithole.

It's funny, though, that it felt like even more of a shithole than a dystopian post-nuclear war future in a bunker, or a future spaceship.

Could be because there was basically nothing there. I only got stories about the mountain but at least on the ship we had things to work with.

We didn't have a lot on the mountain, but we had an accepting and welcoming community of people that wanted us to join them and work with them to make the most of what we had. We were generally accepted on the ship too, except when the robot's security functions got tripped and they thought we were threats.

Maybe Hell really is other people.

There's something more personal about it when it's other people. Robots and monsters are easier to dismiss as something not-human, so their opinion of us matters less. Psychologically speaking.

There's a universe where everyone's anthropomorphic animals. Iron Mouse, Ducktor Doom, Captain Americat. Those really crazy ones are kind of a minority though even just compared to the dystopias.

Oh, wow. That must have been an experience.

Were you turned into an anthropomorphic animal when you went there, too?

Nah, I basically never change unless there's something screwy with the laws of physics. I just get to walk around being the one weird human freak.

I probably shouldn't have even suggested that; around here it's probably just asking for trouble. I guess I'll take the blame if we end up in a universe where the laws of physics screw with us like that.

I think I'd rather be the one weird human freak, for sure.

I'm writing that down.

Adjusting to a new body would just be weird. It was strange enough just seeing other people do the Avatar thing.

I got changed into a demon for a bit back in Mt. Weather. But that's more of a soul transformation than a bodily one.

Those ones usually are. They're not too bothered about shape.

Yeah, I was basically -- possessing my own body? It was a little weird.

There are demons in other worlds I've heard about that do change shape. But I don't know as much about them as I do about demons from mine.
