Will Chase is not a Chaser, thank god. (notacad) wrote in thedept, @ 2013-03-16 09:26:00
The camera switches on to find Gareth sitting in front of it looking mildly tired, but cheerful. He is ready to go home for the day, so his body language is more relaxed than usual, but the tiredness shows a little as he takes off his glasses and rubs his eyes, putting them away before speaking.
Hello! Um, I'm just here to introduce myself really. One of my colleagues basically nagged me into it as we were leaving the office, and I doubt I'd have been allowed to enjoy my weekend in peace if I hadn't popped in to say a few words.
He laughs good-naturedly.
So, my name is Gareth Blishwick and I work in the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. I'm an Obliviator, but I was in the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad for seven years after leaving Hogwarts. I've been in this job not far off two, now.
He pauses, rubbing his neck as he thinks of something to say.
Most of my family are here, actually. My mum's in the Department of Justice and Wizengamot Administration. She's in the Wizengamot Administration Service. Dad's in the Department for Magical Transportation, with the Floo Network Office. And there's my brother, Michael. He's with DOGMAS. He's a bit nuts, actually, but we all get on.
He holds up a family photo to the camera before putting it away.
It probably sounds a bit boring that we're a family of civil servants, but I really love my job and I want to do it well, you know? I suppose when you're in the AMR Squad you help the wizarding public a bit more directly, but the thing about any part of DMAC is that no two days are the same, which means even the paperwork after an assignment isn't so bad. I suppose that sounds a bit... I don't know, but I swear I don't have to be chained to my desk to get some work done, anyway.
He chuckles slightly.
In short... well, we do all right here in the Department for Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. Work done, we get along, and then at the end of the day, we get to leave and go home and leave the craziness behind us. Which is what I'm doing right now. Cheers!
