Characters: Justin Finch Fletchley and Marietta Edgecombe
Setting: The Leaky Cauldron
Summary: Justin desperately needs a pint to deal with everything going on in his messed up love life at the moment and the absolute last person that he wants to see just happens to show up. Awesome!
Justin usually kept to his responsibilities. He wasn't a drunk or a fool. He did everything that was expected of him and often he went above and beyond. This was the second time this week, he'd found himself at the Leaky Cauldron drinking. He'd been handling this breakup alright until the girls had to go and start talking with each other. The whole situation was complicated. He cared enough about Marietta to not to want to hurt her but she'd shunned him. If he'd wanted to be with Susan he would have left her for Susan. He hadn't done that though. He'd been happy with his relationship with Marietta. Marietta was right. He did like Susan. There was a difference between liking someone and acting on those feelings though. He had no intention of acting on them. He especially wouldn't have when he was in a relationship. He hadn't even had a chance to be honest though. His side of the story had always been pushed aside and talked over. He was too much a gentlemen to just tell her to shut up.
He'd had enough in the journal though. If she wanted to talk to him, she'd have to talk to his face and not write little notes that made him feel guilty. He had no plans to do anything more than platonic with Susan but Marietta had no right to tell him what to do. It frustrated him. It angered him. He could see any girl he wanted to see. He could do anything he wanted to do. Somehow, he couldn't bring himself to do it though. A part of him was still holding out hope even three months later that she'd come to her senses and talk this out like reasonable human beings. He was starting to doubt her capacity to be reasonable though. Maybe the strong, smart woman that he'd been planning to bring into his family wasn't who he thought she was. Just dealing was enough to make him thirsty for a drink. He sat at the bar ordering pint after pint, not really making much conversation with anyone. Honestly, he just wanted to be alone with his current pint and his thoughts.
