[ Beep. Beep. Beep beep beep. Shuffling, the sound of fabric brushing against the microphone. More beeping. Someone has no idea what the fuck they're doing with the radio. ]

What in the world is this infernal device...!! Squeaking and hissing like some sort of vile hellspawn! I--

[ Next comes a ton of beeping. Beep beep beep beep beepbeep beep. He's obviously yelling at the radio and getting cut off a lot by the button press. When he speaks next it seems as though he's raged himself out. There is obvious hostility in his tone but it is not of the previous sort. And evidently he's also missed the previous broadcasts. ]

I was told this would allow me to speak with others, through what wizardry I cannot imagine. So. Is anyone there?

[ Yoshitsugu has been exploring the city for some time now, ghosting down streets and peering into windows. He recognizes it as a city of course, but its construction is like nothing he's ever seen before and it is a veritable maze. Yoshitsugu idly wonders if he could be dreaming. Surely this entire situation is far too peculiar to be anything else, but a rotting world where all others have been vanquished? What a delightful dream this would be. He wonders if they suffered terribly. But, it is all so very real that it must be so. If this is reality... Something inside his gut squirms uncomfortably. And just then, a voice comes crackling out of the contraption the child had given him. This is the first he's heard out of it (perhaps he should not have fiddled with it when he arrived) and how very familiar this raving is. A sense of relief-- No, something else. It matters little. A gesture and one of Yoshitsugu's beads has picked the thing up from its place before his feet. He plucks it out of the air and fiddles with it for a moment, speaking into it a few times before a message finally transmits. ]

Is that you, Mitsunari?

[ Mitsunari freezes when he hears that voice emanating from the little device. There's absolute relief to find someone familiar here, in this strange and empty city. He too has been wandering for some time, finding no one. There's some beeping as he struggles with the switch, but he finally gets through. ]

Yes, Yoshitsugu. Where are you? [ A pause, like he's looking around. ] I can't see you.

[ Yoshitsugu hesitates for a split-second, and then: ]

I... am not entirely sure. It appears to be a city of some sort. [ A quick pause. ] Would it be correct to assume that you are also lost in this place?

That's right. I was brought here by that child. [ A moment to seethe. ] What do you see around you, Yoshitsugu? I see-- a tower. A strange tower. It's European.

[ There is silence for a moment as Yoshitsugu rises above his surroundings to get a clearer view of city. He spots the tower quickly-- it's nearby. ]

Ah, I see it. Stay where you are, Mitsunari, and I shall come to you.

[ AND THEN YOSHITSUGU FLIES OFF TO FIND HIS HUSBANDO ]

[ And Mitsunari is scanning the skies for Yoshitsugu. He shades his eyes from the sun with one hand. When he sees the telltale dot of his friend's palanquin floating through the sky, he shouts up and waves his hands around trying to get his attention. ]

Yoshitsugu!! I see you! This way, come down.

[ Yoshitsugu cannot hear Mitsunari from such a height, but he does descend as he approaches the tower and eventually catches sight of him, waving his arms about like a fool. He lands slowly, feeling suddenly tired. ]

At last, we no longer have to use those wretched things.

[ He approaches quickly. His fist is curled as though he might still be holding the sword he does not have. ]

I would like to get rid of mine. I have no further use for it, now that I have contacted you.

[ Yoshitsugu notices the missing sword quickly. How Mitsunari's blood must have boiled when he realized it was gone. But perhaps it is for the better. ]

Don't be hasty, Mitsunari. It could prove useful still. The child did say there would be others; we may need...

[ Yoshitsugu trails off as he realizes what it would mean for Mitsunari to have free communication with anyone else that may be here. Perhaps it would be for the better if Mitsunari lost this as well. ]

[ He doesn't comment on his trailing off. ]

I do not understand how it works. It is a demon's tool forged in the innermost circle of hell and I want nothing to do with its strangeness. [ Brows furrow and he's silent for a second. ] What do we do now, Yoshitsugu?

[ He'll have to relieve him of it later. ]

As things are now, I believe the wisest course of action would be to survey the area. Of what value is anything if one lacks the knowledge to make use of it?

Right. Then let's go.

[ Lalala exploring running around. How are you, building with neon sign. Mitsunari is curious about this one for some reason. The deck is inviting though very European styled, and there are umbrellas. ]

... Yoshitsugu. Let's go inside of this one.

[ Yoshitsugu is less curious about this place-- it looks rather pedestrian-- but sees no harm in it. It's best to keep Mitsunari pacified for now. ] As you wish.

[ They approach the entrance, and after Yoshitsugu has some brief trouble fitting his palanquin through the door frame, make their way inside. Rather quickly, he recognizes the place for what it is, western though it may be. ] It would seem we've happened upon a restaurant.

A restaurant? Then there ought to be food somewhere. Are you hungry?

[ Mitsunari tosses his radio down on a table and strides through the place. He's reminded of certain rooms in Osaka castle: high tables and chairs. ]

[ Yoshitsugu has half a mind to steal the radio while Mitsunari isn't looking. ]

Not particularly. However, it would be wise to account for any supplies here and take some with us until we are able to return; we do not know how scarce food may be in this place.

Good idea. We could probably bundle up some of whatever there is in one of these.

[ He gestures towards the tablecloth, and disappears past the kitchen doors. He's not sure what to make of the kitchen. There's a lot of cabinets and a few of what looks like some sort of oven. ]

[ Yoshitsugu follows him after a moment, pulling one of the linens from a table as he passes by. His beads open the swinging doors for him and then he sees what Mitsunari sees. Nearly everything is metal. If metal can be molded and bent into things like this so easily that it can be found in such a lowly place... It's interesting. ]

Have you found anything yet?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]trianger
2011-10-18 05:25 am UTC (link)
[ He's thinking the same thing about the metal-- it's shiny and when he taps on it it's solid. Mitsunari is curious. He pulls open the cabinet door and it's cold inside. But there is also a lot of food-- food covered with a transparent and shiny material. He picks up a bag of some vegetable and looks it over. ]

Yes. Come look at this. There's food, and it's cold inside of this. How is it cold, Yoshitsugu?

[info]mothballs

Is it now? [ Yoshitsugu approaches the peculiar cabinet and examines it closely. He's silent for a moment, thinking. ] I believe it is something like an ice house. Whoever constructed it must have devised a way to keep things cool even above ground.

[ It's Mitsunari's turn to fall silent. He shuffles through the cabinet with his brows furrowed. Yoshitsugu's guess has to be accurate.

He might not know it but by keeping it open as he looks through it, he's letting the precious cool air all out. With the electricity off there's no way for that air to regenerate. ]

However it works, it doesn't matter so long as it does. It will do no good to question it when our arriving here in the first place is oddity enough. Here, open that.

[ Gesturing to the tablecloth, and once it's held like a sack he throws a bunch of food inside of it. ]

[ It was Mitsunari who asked in the first place. Really, is he that simple? A familiar feeling of exasperation begins to set in. He had been so very close to achieving his wish and this is what the stars have given him? This man... Taken from a world where he can kill that wretched Tokugawa. He'll soon become intolerable. However... Yoshitsugu folds the cloth over the food, settles it in his lap, and watches silently as Mitsunari rifles through cabinets and drawers. ]

[ Mitsunari finds cutlery and plates and bowls. Nothing useful to them, as the knives are dull and the bowls heavy. And then he finds a knife. Running his fingers along the flat blade he decides he'll keep this. It isn't a sword or even a dagger, it's obviously used to prepare food, but it's better than nothing. Though anger at having his sword taken from him boils up again. He violently slams some cupboards shut and rattles the pots and pans. ]

Yoshitsugu. Why was my sword taken yet your beads retained? It makes little sense. That sword was a gift from Lord Hideyoshi himself, and someone had the nerve to steal it.

It was probably that brat. The next time we meet, I shall destroy that child with my bare hands. I will rip each of its thieving fingers from its body and shove them down its throat so that it may choke.

[ Slamming around some more. ]

There's nothing else useful here. Let's go.

[ And there's that rage again. To offend Mitsunari in such a way, that child must either be an imbecile or have nothing to fear at all. Yoshitsugu does not know the answer to Mitsunari's question though, and so remains silent. And while he is curious to know himself, he is simply pleased to have them. To be immobile in this place... He moves ahead of Mitsunari. ]

Yes, let us move on...

Do you hear that?

Hm? [ Yoshitsugu listens for a moment and he hears it too. So there are others in this place. How delightful. They shall serve as a pleasant distraction until he and Mitsunari are able to return home. ] Yes. The others that child mentioned must be nearby.

[ He looks to Yoshitsugu before looking back to the crowd. ]

If they turn out to be as lowly as vermin then we shall deliver them to their gods personally. There is nothing to be gained by staying back so let's move forward. More people means more working and so it may be easier and faster to return home.

[ Dealing with a child indeed. Yoshitsugu will not have his chance at establishing himself in a position of authority ruined by Mitsunari's impulsiveness. In the back of his mind, Yoshitsugu hears Motonari's voice telling him it'd be easier to do away with this fool now, before he can make a mess of things. So close to the end in their own world, Mitsunari's death would have little effect on Yoshitsugu achieving his dream. It'd be easier now than ever-- disgracefully so. And yet...

Yoshitsugu's voice softens, more gentle nagging now than anything. ]

Patience, Mitsunari. Little is ever gained by being rash. We shall approach in time, but first, we must gather information...

This place, a hell. Somehow I doubt a place as mild as this-- however strange it may be-- could be somewhere like that.
