Lobo was getting used to his new looks, in fact, he was really getting used to them, his ego about being the main man had come right back, especially when he started to get a LOT of good stares from a lot of mortal women, it had made him feel damn good about himself and he quickly lost any emo-agnst about his face.
However, what he didn't have yet was steady work. He took a bounty here and there, much to Anita's dismay I'm sure. Forgetting all about their meeting with Tim, Lobo came home, blood that was not his on his cheek and pant leg. "Hoooooooney I'm hoooooome."
Tim raised an eyebrow at him from where he was lounging on the couch, chip halfway to his mouth. "Nice to hear sweetie." He said amusedly, grinning over at Anita who stood up arms crossed and glared.
"You Were supposed to be home three hours ago. I went out of my way to get him to come all the way down here from Gotham and you just show up three hours late? What is that all over you? You know what, I don't want to know, just go clean up and get back out here, hm?" She pursed her lips and cocked her hip and gave him the 'you better listen or no sex for a week' look.
Ooooops. He had completely forgotten about their appointment with Tim. Lobo laughed Tim's comment, but his laugh was cut short when he got The Look from Anita. Man could she put him in his place, at least she knew better than to ask. Lobo went into their bedroom and put on a fresh pair of tight black jeans. He had two pairs, and they looked exactly the same, in fact they probably were the same. The second pair of jeans was probably his answer to Anita's telling him he needed to wear clean clothes more often. He wiped his cheek off with a towel in the bathroom, and headed back out. On his way back though, he grabbed a beer from the fridge. "How is it that you look like NO different Tim?"
"Hey, I managed to grow a couple inches." Tim replied with a smirk. "How is it that you look so different? If it weren't for Anita and your voice I almost wouldnt recognize you." This of course, wasn't true, Tim was nearly obsessive about cataloging people's quirks, the way they moved, it meant he knew who anyone was had he met them before, ski-mask, costume or not. He'd been surprised one time too many in the past not to.
"It's a long story, one that involves Voodoo gone wrong and a witch, but whatever, I'm STILL the main man." Being rude, he ignored Tim for a moment gave Anita a big kiss on the lips, and a deep one at that. Once he finished with the kiss, he wrapped an arm around her waist, probably grabbing at her ass, unable to resist, and turned back to Tim. "So we want back in."
Tim blinked a few times, a little taken aback by the blunt way in which he broached the subject. "Alright..." He started, leaning back into the couch. "It's not really that simple but it's not exactly a hard thing to do. You two have my support but I really have to talk to the others. It shouldn't be a problem though, we're not really a group that refuses help. You know, so long as you can keep your side job out of it... and by that I mean bounties can't come first here." Tim said, eyeing Lobo and wondering if he could agree to those conditions.
Lobo had never really talked about bounties with Anita, it had been something he had always danced around, he enjoyed it on a sick twisted level, and it was something he refused to stop. Tonight he had killed his bounty, and it had made him feel like his old self again. After a long pause, drinking his beer, Lobo looked up at Tim. "They don't come first, but they still come."
"On your own time." Tim insisted, not willing to back down on this point. "I'm not willing to have the Titans be a party to any kind of bounty hunting, that isn't how we do things. What you two do on your own time is your business though, so long as we aren't called to stop you or anything." He said, raising his eyebrow at Lobo, practically expecting him to challenge that. "SO you might want to be more careful about what bounties you do take." He finished.
Lobo looked at Tim for another moment or two, processing everything. Tim was no fool and Lobo knew it. "Perfectly understood." Which of course Lobo took the wrong way, if a bounty needed to be killed, he would have to be a whole lot more discreet than he was used to being, or travel to do so. "It's a deal then."
Tim was a bit surprised there wasn't more arguing on that point, but he was hardly going to back down and aparently Lobo realized that. He smiled and stood, holding out his hand to Lobo. "It's good to have you back."
Anita grinned and kissed Lobo on the cheek, giving him a big hug. They would spend a bit of time later talking about the bounties but there was no need to do that while Tim was here, and overall she was pleased.
Lobo shook Tim's hand, dreading him leaving and having to actually talk about bounties to Anita later. He wasn't sure if she would understand his need for violence, it was who he was, a part of him, and if he didn't do it through bounties and in a somewhat controlled way, it tended to come out at random, like killing his entire planet, that had been an interesting day. He hugged her back though. "It's weird to be back, not gonna lie. SO, you want a beer?" Part of him did wonder what Tim thought of him and Anita, as big of an ego as Lobo had, he was surprised that Anita was still putting up with him, part of him had seen this as a temporary thing, convinced Anita would eventually kick him out and get fed up
"Not for me thanks, I should actually probably get going. I've got a long drive ahead of me tonight." Tim said, running his hand through his hair and smiling at both of them again. "It was good to see you both, I'll give you a call and let you know what's going on as soon as I get things rolling."
Anita gave him a hug and he returned it before heading for the door.
"Well that went well." Lobo pulled out a cigarette and put it in his mouth but didn't light it, instead he went outside like a good boy.
Anita went out with him and leaned on the doorframe behind him, wanting none of the smoke but she had to talk to him, no way he was sneaking off. "So about these bounties..." She began "What did he mean on being more careful and he didn't want the team called in to stop you. What you into?"
Lobo was surprised as he opened his mouth to answer. Instead he took a drag from his cigarette instead, not surprised that she had asked, but surprised that he was hesistant to answer. He knew he had to tell her the truth, and normally he really wouldn't care, but the truth would scare her off, and he actually didn't want that, something that did come as a bit of a shock to him. "When I came back into your life I scared you with some of the shit I had done before, is there ANY way we could not talk about this and say we had?"
Anita peered at him for a moment, considering that. In the end though she knew how to pick her battles, and she wasn't really in the mood for one tonight. Tonight was a win, and should stay that way. She sighed and untensed, moving forward to wrap her arms around his waist from behind and pressed her cheek into his back. "Okay. Just promise me you arent going to do anything that puts us on opposite sides of the law, please?"
She clenched the front of his shirt in her fingers, nails scratching against his stomach. "You just told Tim you'd be more careful what you took... Can't you give me that same promise? I just.. I don't want to be called up one day because you're the one we need to stop." She turned her face, burying it in his back and squeezing her eyes closed. "Don't make me make that choice. I don't want to be the bad guys girl."
There was that eternal question, was he a 'bad guy' or not? He didn't like to think of anything in black and white, everything was a blurry grey, he did what he wanted to do and that was that. Now there was someone else in his life. "We should've had this conversation a long time ago, I've just...been avoiding it because I didn't want to lose you. I've done things that would make even YOU cringe 'nita, and I enjoy it, hell I fraggin' live off of it. I'll try to be more careful with what I take, but I still HAVE to take them."
"Alright." She said, hugging him a little more tightly for a moment. "Im just not ready to lose you yet, and I dont want to lose all my friends because I ran off with a baddie, you know?"
Lobo turned around and hugged her, but pulled away a bit after a moment, tossing his cigarette. "I understand, but I can't change who I am, I can tone it down, but I can't change."
"I know that, didn't you hear me? I dont want to lose my friends, or be the bad guy's girl, but I would." She said, turning her gaze upward to meet his eyes.
"I love you Anita, and that terrifies me, because I sort of AM the bad guy. I killed my whole planet one day because I thought it would be funny. You're going to leave me one day and I'm going to ACTUALLY be depressed, do you have any idea how strange that is? I've been alive a LONG time, and I've never felt this way, hell I killed my own mom without a second thought."
"Well then you damn well better love me." She said, frowning and closing her eyes as she clung to him. "Because if you decide to kill me one day cause you're board I'm going to kick your stupid ass right off the planet." The thought scared her, terrified her, she couldn't reconcile the man she was completely head over heels for with the kind of monster that would boast about committing the genocide of his own people, relitives included.
He clung to her, part of him wishing he could just walk away from it all and save him all of these new found emotions. "I'm sorry 'Nity, you deserve better than me, or at least someone with morals. You're different though, I could never, ever, ever hurt you, I promise. Take it as a compliment, I care about NO ONE but you, if anyone else told me to not smoke in their house, i'd probably burn it down, but for you, I go outside without a complaint."
She snorted, a little amused by his last comment. "Not completely without complaint... and Ialready told you, you urn my house down I'm going to have the cutest little lobo-lizard pet in the galaxy." She was finally smiling again, back on more familiar grounds and reassured by what he said. "You'll do fine as long as you stick with me anyway, I'll tell you when you're about to step over the line and you can tell me when you need me to look the other way... within reason I mean."
Lobo laughed, because yeah, he did complain about that, every time he had to go outside in the rain. "What the FRAG did I do to deserve you Anita??? You are the best woman a crazy bastard like me could ask for." "Hey now." She gave him a good jab to the ribs with two fingers "I am the best woman anyone could ask for, and dont you be forgettin it or you'll be cookin your own food for the next three weeks."
